Sweet!
I can see that her voice would feel rounder with proper bass. But I mean I always imagined you would have a capable setup with all your gear and wizardry.
Apologies to Norah Jones, I needed more bass!
I've read a lot of positive reviews about Norah Jone's, both in her individual talent and the quality of the recordings. I've been "meh!" for years.
The last six months I upgraded my main speakers with dual 10" woofers per side and enormous amplifier power and wow, suddenly I really enjoy Norah Jones!! I just didn't have enough bass to do her recordings justice.
Also, I feel foolish because I thought I had plenty of bass. :D I had avoided using my sub for music due to ... excessive messiness trying to integrate a stereo integrated with an AVR. I decided however to go fully active, and to convert my 2-way bookshelves to 3-ways and that restored a lot I had forgotten about. This may be the root cuase of me watching more TV and listening less to music! hahahaha |
In case anyone wants to see the additional bass cabinetry:
https://speakermakersjourney.blogspot.com/2025/09/powereing-woofer-mark-i.html At least in terms of displacement, this puts my main speakers in the same category as B&W 801’s and Magico S5s, if they were active. :) Also, at 48" tall, they are the same height as the Magico S5, so they MUST sound the same, right? |
