Mini amp with passlabs / tube like sound

Hello,

i am looking for a small low wattage amp, preferably solid state (as I’ve been burning out too many tube amps) for my dining room setup with home made open baffle speakers.

The speakers work well with tubes and a small set amp, have been using the small amp from musical paradise, but I’m open to suggestions.

what would make a good small simple amp with a set tube like sound?

thanks,

Richard

Something’s up if you’re burning out too many tubes - they typically last between 3,000-10,000 hours.  If you sort that out, checkout Decware Zen Triode.

Amp Camp amps are not really great they have hi distorition #'s, they were designed for DYI teaching classes not critical listning.

There are better optons out there.

Such as?  (There was nothing listed in your post)

The OP stated he has a Musical Paradise amp, which is about a $500, compact tube amp.  That, combined with the DIY speakers tells me this may be a lower-budget proposition.  The Amp Camp amps are inexpensive, Class-A, Solid State, compact and designed by Nelson Pass which could get the OP where he wants based off the criteria mentioned.

I agree there are better options out there.  But at what cost?

CHOCO Emie is a fine small footprint int. amp. rated quite good by the usual Youtube audiophile reviewers.  USAM has one listed for sale.

First Watt terrific, though not small or light weight...even Pass Labs doesn't recommend the  Amp Camp...

My favorite recent small amps are Nuforce STA200, Fosi V3 mono blocks, upgraded Parasound Zamp V3 ...I own and use all 3 ...
