My older stuff in everyday use.

  • Quad ESL loudspeakers - 1961
  • 2 sets EICO HF35 monobloc amps - 1959
  • 3 x Garrard 401 turntables - 1965
  • 4 x Decca cartridges (retipped) - 1987
  • 2 x Lambda 25 tube power supplies - 1955

My beautiful JBL 4311wxa speakers. 1978. All original and still look and sound like new. Well almost.

Noromance,

That is a terrific set of vintage gear that would stand up against anything currently made.  While the Quad 57 has its limitations, recognized even in its day, it is nonetheless a fantastic sounding speaker.  Eico amps, are terrific bargains if properly maintained, the 401 is still a world class table and the Decca cartridges have a vivid sound that I like too.  I am not familiar with the Lamda 25 power supplies.

My oldest piece is a Citation I preamp likely from the early sixties.  After fixing it up I was curious about the pre-RIAA record playback curves.  It’s become a gateway into the world of 78s and early LPs.

Longest owned still in use is an AR-XB I bought used in the late 70’s.  I replaced the tone arm with a more flexible Jelco and it sounds decent with the above mentioned Citation preamp.
