My beautiful JBL 4311wxa speakers. 1978. All original and still look and sound like new. Well almost.

Noromance, That is a terrific set of vintage gear that would stand up against anything currently made. While the Quad 57 has its limitations, recognized even in its day, it is nonetheless a fantastic sounding speaker. Eico amps, are terrific bargains if properly maintained, the 401 is still a world class table and the Decca cartridges have a vivid sound that I like too. I am not familiar with the Lamda 25 power supplies. |
My oldest piece is a Citation I preamp likely from the early sixties. After fixing it up I was curious about the pre-RIAA record playback curves. It’s become a gateway into the world of 78s and early LPs. Longest owned still in use is an AR-XB I bought used in the late 70’s. I replaced the tone arm with a more flexible Jelco and it sounds decent with the above mentioned Citation preamp. |
@larryi More info and photos in my Virtual System. One of the Eico sets is modified with fixed bias, chokes and triode input. The other just recapped. The Lambda is a tube regulated bench supply that I use with the preamp. 401s are all AudioGrail refurbished. |
