Audible Shiny Gloss on Used Records--How to Remove?

Yep I also think it’s LAST. It might come off with strong record cleaner solvent. LAST was all the hype back when it came out. I’ve treated a few records with it. You have to go super easy/light. I stopped treating records with it because I think it’s bull 💩. I also thought I noticed the sound got slightly darker but I’m not sure if it’s in my head or it’s really changed since I can’t A/B before and after quick enough.

I went into a record store and–I kid you not–the proprietor was cleaning used records with an aerosol furniture polish resulting in a great shine.

I've tried cleaning these with TERGIKLEEN. It doesn't work. I use LAST with some used records. It's not that either. With LAST, it's best to wait a few weeks to play until the sound stabilizes. I suspect it's either lighter fluid or some kind of varnish. I doubt very much that Dawn will work on it. Probably only turpentine, but that would likely take off more than just the varnish.

Try dawn. Doesn’t hurt.
