Reducing Resonance Between Speakers and Stands – Need Advice

My Joseph Audio Pulsar speakers are currently placed on some basic stands, which themselves sit on spikes. When playing bass-heavy material, I feel the sound doesn’t quite detach cleanly from the speakers — instead it seems to vibrate and spread sideways, as if too much resonance is being transferred into the stands.

I’m looking for something to place between the speakers and the stands that would help reduce these resonances and improve bass clarity.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Have you played around with speaker placement?  Maybe getting them further away from the back and/or side walls will clean things up.

Stay away from spikes.

Use Herbies or Sorbothane between speaker and stand.

I was in the same boat with some Harbeth speakers.

First question is what type of stands do you have, are they filled with mass increasing material or can they be?

Second question is what is between the speakers and stands now?

Third question is what is connecting the stands to the floor and what type of floor do you have?

I use the IsoAcoustic Isolation stands on top of my standard speaker stands. At high volume I can't feel any significant vibration on the platform below the Isolation stands. I have additional damping as well, but the Iso stands do most of the work.

Nobsound springs will do the job. $30 for a box of 4. I use them under all my components, including directly under large bookshelf speakers on stands. They clean up the sound and increase soundstage etc.
