Accuphase amplifier choice

Hello All,

I have decided to upgrade my Parasound A21 amplifier looking for a more refined sound. The following are the amplifiers that I have in my mind:

Accuphase A-48s
Accuphase P-4600
Coda No. 8 (meterless)
Coda 16.0 (meterless)

Currently I am leaning largely to Accuphase. My dealer says that the Class A 48s will sound better with my ProAc D48R. But I am worried that I will lose dynamics since the Accuphase is only 50W into 8 Ohms. But it doubles all the way into 1 ohm.

The P-4600 is a higher wattage amp and I think it should be able to drive the D48R with ease because it doubles down to 2 ohm load. So I am not concerned with it's ability to drive the ProAcs.

I do have some feedback on the P-4600 from another thread here and appreciate it. But now looking for some comparisons.

Has anyone compared/experienced the Accuphase Vs Coda amplifiers? Any feedback is appreciated.

I love the meters and the led output also gives a digital number. In talking with a technician that fixes all amplifiers he seldome works on acciphases and showed me the internals. He just thinks the biuld quality is at the top. I have the m 1000 amps and even though they are old they run fantastic. I agree if you can find a dealer to let you try it at home great. Enjoy the hunt.

I believe my last post pretty much laid out your best course. I have an idea…let’s chat over PM.

One member here just had this to say about his Accuphase A-80 amplifier:

"I can say without a hint of exaggeration that this is by far the best amp I’ve owned. No contest. It produces a sound that is harmonically rich, tonally dense, and perfectly balanced from top to bottom. Absolutely no lack of bass whatsoever. It’s an amp that caters to the music lover first and foremost. Period"

While I don’t have the A-80, I can tell you that the A-48S is also the best amplifier I’ve had.  I had the P4600-S but then traded it in for the A-48S after I demo’d Fyne Vintage 15 spkrs and immediately sensed the rich harmonics and smoothness that this amplifier offered. The P4600 is a great amplifier but the A48-S appeals to me more.  I can also tell you that the A48-S which is extremely non fatiguing and gives me endless hours of musical bliss. I will upgrade to the A-80 - bragging rights if anything - but I’m extremely content with my Accuphase A-48S.  FYI, my A48-S is paired with an Accuphase C2300 preamplifier,  Accuphase DC-37 Processor,  Innuos Pulsar and Klipsch LaScala AL5 speakers.
