OCC and Litz wires - Furutech Alfa series, Neotech, Cardas

I ordered some Alpha 36 from Chris at VH Audio and it arrives today. I have some ETI Research banana and spade connectors I’ll be using. My current sc’s are some knock off Nordost cables that have served me well but I believe the Furutech wire will be a little cleaner sounding. We’ll see. I’ll chime back in once I have them up and running. 

I use Alpha  36 speaker cable and it is excellent. A word of warning, however. When new it sounds a little rough, strident and harsh. It takes a week or so of constant use before it starts to smooth out. So let it run in thoroughly before assessing it critically.

@rossb  Thanks for the heads up. I’ve heard it can take a bit of a break in but that doesn’t sound too bad if I’m able play a signal 24/7. Looking forward to seeing how the Alpha 36 performs. 

fyi, I have a separate component system.  I went from OFC interconnects to OCC interconnects all at once and I heard a really nice improvement.  So, I am really bought in on OCC interconnects.  I am old school and also interested in big bass.  For my speaker cables, I prioritized much lower gauge copper rather than OCC, so, I went with OFC, 7 gauge (4 gauge per connection) per speaker and it did improve my bass over OFC 10 gauge per speaker.  My speaker cable length was 12 feet. 

I purchased 150 feet @ the time of purchase. My wire goes from my tube amp to the outboard networks. I did try a 3' section of wire to my doghouse (LaScala ll) with the Alfa, but it made the lowend to muddy. I kept the ELF Custom Cables Silver Surfer OCC Silver Speaker Cables. Maybe I didn't let them settle in. They're also connected to my mids & tweeters.
