Recommendations for a integrated amp
Lately I have been thinking going integrated from separates. I been interested in an integrated amp so I can keep it simpler with less signal chain. Also am looking for one that has a USB input so I can eliminate my interface as a dac. I am mainly looking SS but is not limited to. My budget is around 4k but I am flexible. This will be powering a pair of Triangle BR03 speakers.
BTW, I currently have a Rotel RC-995 preamp and a Acurus A150 amp with a Focusrite interface as a dac using Tidal on my laptop as a source.
It’s interesting to see everyone chiming in on amplifiers. Start with the speaker upgrade, and then settle on the amp. Hegel is fine, but they don’t pair with everything. I wouldn’t suggest buying the amplifier and then finding out later you have the wrong match, then you’re back to square one. There are countless options under $4k, and you’ll be able to find something great with that budget. Speakers first. |
I would recommend you audition an NAD M33 if you can. Seems the going price is $3500 but can be had for less. I have one driving MoFi Sourcepoint 888’s and it does a magnificent job. I auditioned the H390 alongside the M33. The only area the Hegel seemed to excel was in the width of the soundstage. If you are hoping to simplify and upgrade your streaming performance, there is no comparison. The Nad/Bluesound interface is so much better as is, IMHO, the NAD DAC. It really is quite spectacular as the avalanche of positive reviews and awards indicates. |
