Audiogon has gone too far, too fast with the ads!!!

I enjoy this site and completely understand and support their monetizing it more with ads, but it’s gone too far, too fast IMHO.  First it ran far too slowly, which they thankfully have improved, but we’re still left with ads popping up all over the place to the point of being overly intrusive, distracting, and annoying at least in my experience.  Past that, and even worse, if I try to post a response longer than a few sentences the site often refreshes and I lose what I’ve written, and that’s even with me proactively saving it as I’m typing (it happened twice while I typed this!!!) — this rarely happened before the advertising deluge. I just wish they’d back it off a bit at least until they can work out whatever limitations are causing these frequent and very frustrating issues.  Or maybe it’s just me?

I agree all, it is better than it was, which is probably why I did not type out first in word and then copy and paste.

@hgeifman - there is nothing much to show.  I finished the post, clicked "Post Your Response" and it immediately went to a log-in page.  I was for sure logged in when I started typing because just a minute or so before I tried to post, I had refreshed my "Activity Feed for Mitch2" page.

Things clearly are not what they used to be but I also get that Audiogon needs the income from the ads, and that there is a much higher level of security necessary to operate a site like this than previously.

@mitch2

I do not care if “Audiogon needs the income from the ads, and that there is a much higher level of security necessary to operate a site like this”.

Your issue “typed a forum thread response, then clicked "post" only to be prompted to relog-in to Audiogon” is a VERY serious Audiogon issue that must be fixed.

Please email Audiogon customer support so they can investigate further and solve the issue.  They  need to know description of the issue, what device you are using, operating system, etc. so they can solve your issue.

@hgeifman - Could my problems be related to my use of NordVPN?  However, it doesn't seem to affect any other sites.

@mitch2

To be honest, I have no clue.  I suggest you review the info below from Perplexity AI:

“NordVPN can potentially impact your ability to log into Audiogon, depending on how you use it and how Audiogon’s security systems handle VPN traffic.

When you connect to NordVPN, your internet traffic is routed through one of Nord’s encrypted servers, changing your apparent IP address and location. This can cause Audiogon to flag the login as suspicious — especially if the server’s IP address is associated with another country, region, or known VPN service. In such cases, common issues include login errors, CAPTCHA challenges, or temporary account lockouts.

If you’re having trouble logging in to Audiogon while connected to NordVPN, the following steps usually resolve it:

• Disconnect from NordVPN and try logging in directly to confirm if the VPN is the cause.

• Reconnect using a VPN server in your home country or near your usual login location.

• Clear your browser cache and cookies before retrying the login.

• Turn off NordVPN’s Threat Protection feature if it’s enabled, as it can sometimes interfere with site authentication.

• Disable DNS over HTTPS or other third-party web protection features if they are active.

These login issues are not typically due to NordVPN malfunctioning but rather to security or location-based protocols on the website you’re accessing. If switching servers or adjusting settings doesn’t help, adding Audiogon to your browser’s “trusted sites” or whitelisting it in your VPN app can fix it”.

I still suggest you send your info to Audiogon and ask them about NordVPN

Well, it’s been a month since Audiogon said they would fix this site but it STILL SUCKS!!!  I was really liking Brave Browser but recently that’s become unstable and unusable with Audiogon, and ONLY Audiogon 🤔, to the point where Brave just continually crashes.  WTF is up with that?!?  Wondering if @theophile @hgeifman @devinplombier or anyone else is experiencing same?  So now I’m resorting to Ublock Origin Lite because I really can’t take this anymore — it took me like 15 minutes and three tries just to post this crappy little post BTW with the constant slowdowns and screen refreshes. 😖😖😖. I’ll reach out to them again but seems pretty clear at this point they have no intention of fixing this ridiculous site performance.
