Based on the Stereophile measurements, the A7 is a really benign load, the 505 would be ideal.
Older Luxman L-505UX (Not the II)
Hello, I have been searching for a used Luxman for some time to pair for my Spendor A7s, gave up and have a Naim Supernait 3 on order. However, a used Luxman L-505uX (not the II version) is now available and I have to the opportunity to buy this one as well. I can try them both and return one of them. Before I go through that, I thought I would ask this group if anybody has thoughts of buying an older Luxman like this L-505uX (being sold by a reputable reseller, The Music Room)? I have sent serial number to Luxman USA requesting the manufatured year but haven't yet heard back. Thanks! Dave

According to hifi-wiki.com the L-505ux was manufactured from 2011 - 2018: https://hifi-wiki.com/index.php/Luxman_L-505uX For what it is worth I have a L-509u that I purchased in 2010 and it was may main amp for many years. It is now doing daily duty in a second system. It is a phenomenal amp that is built like a tank and should perform well for many years to come. |
I love Luxman. I have a Lux R-1120A receiver built in 1977, that thing is a beauty, a Lux E-250 phono stage that completely changes my vinyl listening experience, and I just bought a Lux DA-200 DAC/headphone amplifier, and a Lux PD-121 turntable with an SME 3009 tonearm. That beauty arrives in its original box (the tonearm is also in its original box) fully serviced this week. I think this company over delivers at everything they make. I say grab that amp! |
