Interconnect recommendations

According to chatGPT, my 2 weakest links in my system, are my DAC & my interconnects. For a number of reasons, I am focusing on the interconnects first, starting with RCA from DAC to pre & balanced from pre to amp. My current interconnects are WBC Mogami 2549. Speaker cables are Transparent Plus. My USB is Cardas clear. I recently added the Stack Audio LAN silencer. I have a Furman P 2400 AR power conditioner & voltage regulator & Maze Audio Litz with billet plugs power cords.
Budget is open, new or used. Focus is on clarity, transparency and micro details. I want to match or slightly exceed the quality of my existing system.
My digital side of my system: Aurender N150 > Chord Qutest > PS Audio BHK pre > Moon 330A > KEF Reference 3’s.
If it helps, I am thinking used Dave or one the R2R (Holo KTE etc) as my DAC upgrade. Thanks!

Well I have no idea how on earth an AI can form an opinion, but I think your interconnects are actually pretty good.  If you were into DIY and wanted to make absolutely premium, you could use pure silver IC's with shield from https://partsconnexion.com/connex-cable-bl-ag-interconnect-cable-2-x-23awg/

Hi , here’s my 02 cents. I have avoided any silver in MY system as it added unwanted brightness. I have the same USB as you and I upgraded to the Wireworld Starlight Platinum 8 for a noticeable improvement. For RCA interconnects I really had to avoid anything that added brightness. I’m running Morrow level 5 and I’m happy with them. The only caveat is that they take 400 hours to break in. Mike Morrow comped me for 240 hours of burn in prior to shipping but they still required the additional time while using.  I can’t recommend a DAC as I have limited experience but I have a Schiit Yiggy. I would like to get a tube DAC in the future. Also I find @audphile1 to give very good advice and always give weight to his suggestions. FWIT I have single ended Rogue gear and am just now setting up higher level Rogue gear that consists of a balanced pre and balanced mono blocs. In talking the manufacturer I was advised to start with my favorite RCA’s before I go out and spend a bunch of money on balanced. But considering my DAC offers balanced too , I’m chomping at the bit to try something new. For a starting point I’m considering Pine Tree balanced Interconnects and their ribbon speaker wires as a starting point based on TJ’s recommendation. Cheers , Mike B.

First of all. I was surpristed to find that ChatGPT did surprisingly well with my system. I asked ChatGPT what it thought of my system.... I only included the speakers and components. I said that what I had was very synergistic, but that I should consider high end interconnects to get the most out of it. They recommended Transparent interconnects and one other brand. I have Transparent interconnects and cables. So, I added them to my description. Then it said I should consider I good power conditioner... so, I added that in. Then it recommended direct lines... which I have.... so I added it.

Level by level it recommended adding things... a usually the brand I have. Also, in the order in which I purchased them.  I was very surprised.

I believe both your preamp and amp are fully balanced.  I also run a fully balanced preamp and amp with Mogami XLR interconnects.  I use Cardas Clear cables for my other connections.  I have found no difference when using Mogami, Cardas or some other “name brand” XLR cables between my pre and amp.  What ever cables you try, I’d be sure you get a full refund trial period.  You may find as I do there is no difference.

As far as your system. If you are going to upgrade your DAC. You definitely should do that first. Your system is a system. The components should be optimized to get exactly the sound you want. Then work on upgrading your cables to be the most transparent and dynamic you can afford.

I agree with ChatGPt. I would upgrade your DAC to a more natural / musical one. So the DAVE DAC would probably not be a good choice. Then I would work on cables. Once you have the sound you want... I recommend all Transparent cables... assuming that the sound is perfect to start with. If the sound isn’t quite as rich and musical as you want then Cardas... the highest level is most neutra (Clear Beyond)... but still a tiny bit warm... and they warm downward. Like Clear and Clear Reflection.
