@fleschler you missed the part where I mention that one of our guys works at a local audio shop and he brings things to the listening room.  We have many dealer friends also where we bring our products in for listening and comparisons.  Then we are in the NYC area where there are a few audio clubs so we get to compare and help them also.  PLUS we know all the local reviewers so we again get to hear and compare our products.  Can you name another manufacturer who has compared their products to the competition?

Besides doing repairs, we also upgrade products that are not in need of repair.  Among them, Jay’s Audio, Lampizator, Grover Huffman, etc.  We have been in the industry for many years so we literally get to hear more than anyone probably could hear in years.  We receive close to 20 to 30 products in a month.

If you search the forums, you can see a few people have commented on our upgrades including one for Lampizator.

We are not hear to brag about any of this.  We also love the hobby and we offer to help always first to anyone willing.  Our listening room is in northern NJ and we encourage people to come by and bring anything that they want.  We love the hobby and meeting new people.

Recent higher priced products include the Lamm 4 chassis preamp, Cello preamp, Light Harmonic Da Vinci DAC, to name a few.

@devinplombier I did not in anyway take your comments as anything but helpful so no misunderstanding at all.  Input is always appreciated.  Swing by NJ and come in for a visit anytime.

@bigkidz - I find it difficult to believe that you upgrade any Grover Huffman gear.  Since I am a friend for 27 years and he only made a few phono pre-amps, amps and pre-amps in that time, where did you get them from?  He has primarily built his patented cable design for the last several decades.   He does his own alterations.  I was his cable beta tester for over two decades and own his equipment for my second system.  What do you do with a Jay's Audio CDt3 Mk3 and Lampizator  (other than tube rolling)?  You indicated you upgraded ONE Lampizator, possibly an older unit with directly heated triodes and not a Poseidon, Horizon or Horizon 360.  Do you know what Grover's secret is about his amplification units that few equipment manufacturers use? 

@bigKidz My mistake, you indicated that you received only ONE comment concerning Lampizator upgrades.  What upgrades have you done to them other than tube rolling?

@fleschler most of the upgrades in general are in the power supply section.  Upgrading to nichicon or audio note capacitors.  Then signal path resistors mostly amtrans or audio note non-magnetic resistors now.

Tube rolling is not a upgrade we perform.  Our DAC and preamp began as 101D direct heated triode tube products.  Lampizator was not even offering that sort of product.  I do not remember what Grover secret sauce was and I don’t believe that most products we repair/upgrade/modify are not good sounding.  They just can use a little benefit from the better parts.  We only change the design for products that are in very bad shape and have burnt circuit boards.  For the Da Vinci, that was a real mess and we had to fix other repair techs work.  We were the only ones that got that unit to work.  We also repaired an older Art Audio stereo amplifier that nobody else could repair.  Again I will say that my business partner has a masters degree in electronic design.  He has been doing this since he was 10 years old.  How many people can say that?

I don’t remember the person who posted about his Lamp upgrade.  Don H (not sure if I can post his last time without his permission).  But the power supply and some resistors were upgraded with better parts and that upgrade produced fantastic sound to his unit.  We were impressed with it.

We also did a Cary SACD/CD players maybe 306S.  Over one hundred parts we swapped out if I remember correctly.  We did this for someone and the results were so great, I purchased the same model and upgraded it for myself.  So we are always learning and wanting to improve our own sound.
