Audiogon has gone too far, too fast with the ads!!!

I enjoy this site and completely understand and support their monetizing it more with ads, but it’s gone too far, too fast IMHO.  First it ran far too slowly, which they thankfully have improved, but we’re still left with ads popping up all over the place to the point of being overly intrusive, distracting, and annoying at least in my experience.  Past that, and even worse, if I try to post a response longer than a few sentences the site often refreshes and I lose what I’ve written, and that’s even with me proactively saving it as I’m typing (it happened twice while I typed this!!!) — this rarely happened before the advertising deluge. I just wish they’d back it off a bit at least until they can work out whatever limitations are causing these frequent and very frustrating issues.  Or maybe it’s just me?

There's no escaping it!!! I had been a 40 year listener to AM radio, but recently stopped listening to it because, now, you get more aggravating commercials than normal radio programing, and the commercials themselves are some of the worst IMHO.

Try public radio. Very few ads, and they're not really ads anyway. Pretty low-key. 

You don't have to listen to NPR if that's not your thing. For example, around here we have two great jazz and classical stations that are both public. They're ad-free.

Zero ads here. Zero ads Youtube. If you use lousy browsers you get lousy results.

@theophile  What browser do you use?  Are you also using an ad blocker?

I’m really annoyed at the frequency with which my screen refreshes here now and want to try an ad blocker.  Never felt the need for one before, but this has become just intolerable.  Can anyone recommend one that works but doesn’t become overly intrusive or block other operations/necessary info?

uBlock Origin Lite (uBOL) is an efficient, lightweight content blocker extension based on the Manifest V3 API. It is designed to block ads, trackers, miners, and other unwanted content immediately upon installation. Unlike traditional blockers, uBO Lite operates entirely declaratively, meaning the browser handles the filtering process through CSS/JS injection, so uBO Lite itself does not consume CPU or memory resources while blocking content.
The service worker process is only active when the user interacts with the extension’s popup panel or options pages.

The default filter lists used by uBlock Origin Lite correspond to those of uBlock Origin, including EasyList, EasyPrivacy, and Peter Lowe’s Ad and tracking server list, with the option to enable more filter sets through the extension’s options. It is maintained by Raymond Hill (the creator of uBlock Origin) and is available for Chrome, Edge, and Safari browsers as of late 2025.

uBlock Origin Lite is praised for its efficiency and performance, with users noting it is effective for most websites, though it may be less capable against advanced anti-adblock techniques compared to the full uBlock Origin. Some users have reported its removal from certain web stores like the Chrome Web Store, but it remains available on others like Edge Add-ons and as a self-distributed version.

i use uBlock Lite on my iPhone.  It works and block most of the ad appearing on Audiogon.
