@acefactory Thanks. Pretty sure it's the amp itself. Only three years old with light use. Hoping for some insights as to the most likely internal issue. A bit surprised by the lack of response? Cheers.
Help With Buzzing Sound
I run a pair of Hegel H30 SS amps in the mono block configuration. Just recently, there is a noticeable buzzing sound emanating from my left speaker when the amps are just idling. I know it's the amp as I've moved things around and the problem follows the amp. It is there both in mono mode, and in the left speaker only when I've switched it to stereo mode. Looking for suggestions as to what the most likely culprit may be. Also trying to avoid shipping a 100 pound amp across the country to the authorized service center. All help is greatly appreciated. Cheers.

@OP Buzzing has three principal causes - mains or signal grounding issues, electromagnetic interference, or component failure. If you have absolutely eliminated the first two then the first place to look is the power supply in the amp. Regrettably, if you are not a technician yourself, you probably have no option but to enlist the help of one. If the amp is out of warranty, any decent tech should be able to fault find it. Power amps are among the simpler components in hi fi. I know you say you have moved things around, but if you haven't done it, I would physically move the right hand amp and all of its cables over to the location of the left hand amp. EMI can be weird. It's a very long shot but worth checking. However, I still agree with your surmise that it's the amp that has a problem. But you never know. |
@bigtwin , Seriously, ask ChatGPT. It will give you a complete rundown of probable causes, and solutions to each cause. As you narrow it down, it will give you an increasingly in depth solution to your problem. That AI business is really something. |
