Subs or Turntable?

I’ve long wanted a VPI turntable, and I’m very drawn to the Prime series.

But the budget keeps being pushed out, and logically I think a pair of subs would make a stronger impact on the sound. Looking at REL t7x, which comes in lower than the TT.

So subs or TT? Logic or heart? What would you do?

Given the interaction which occurs between lots of low frequency content and turntable sonic breakthrough; I personally would optimise the turntable prior to introducing any subwoofer.

In terms of value, dollar for dollar, it’s hard to imagine any component change or upgrade could outshine the addition of two subwoofers.

I would say follow your heart. This is a pursuit of passion.

Is the table replacing something? Would be great to see your system. If you put photos and id your components under your USerID in Virtual Systems then we could put this all in context.

The table would be replacing my current Mofi Ultradeck and I would bring my Hana ML to a new table.

The rest of the system on the vinyl end is Bob’s Devices Sky 20-S, Sutherland 20/20 w/lps, Mastersound Dueventi, and Rosso Fiorentino speakers. The room is smaller at 12x15x7.5 ft.

OK, thanks. That is easy. The turntable. Given the speakers you have and the TT.

While your speakers do not plumb the depths, your room is relatively small and they should perform well. Unless you are going for an unnatural kick in the chest. Then the turntable will bring a much bigger improvement in sound quality.

Although, personally I no longer use my turntable... although I have a $45K vinyl leg. Because my digital leg sounds the same or better. So, at this time in  the evolution of audio, I would no longer invest in vinyl.

Now that you’ve described the system (not sure anyone could give reasonable advice without that information) I’d say go for the subs. But I like @m-db  recommendation on the Rhythmik subs.

Edit:

I just reread your post and saw the size of your room. Not sure why you think you need subs in such a small space. Unless you have some serious bass suckout issues, I will change my vote to a new turntable.
