Are there any recording artists you just can’t listen too?

For me there is one that has always been top of the list.

Edith Piaf…..l just can’t think of anything worse.

Do not get me wrong and consider my choice is in any way racist….l love to listen to music with songs in any language… Italian, French, Spanish…..

Russian and German can however be extremely demanding, but Edith Piaf (if possible in any language) is a potential harrowing experience.

Do any others on here have a similar artist, or artists that can trigger the same physical reaction?

mylogic

James Taylor, who if not favored by family connections, an ingratiating personality, and lucky timing (a cultural moment of stunning vapidity -- "I'm OK, You're OK;" "Johnathan Livingston Seagull;" "Love Story" -- "Fire and Rain" was of a piece) would have become the summer camp music director he was born to be.
Can't write, can't play, can't sing, which alone would make him merely uninteresting, but best known for cluelessly eviscerating dozens of fine-to-magnificent songs earlier recorded, profoundly and definitively, by REAL artists. "Covers," which ought to have been called "Eviscerations," is unlistenable not just because the arrangements and vocals suck so badly, but because they are full-bore desecrations.

Shoe Gaze, Death Folk, Opera (that's a shame but oh well), most Hippity Hop, most pop although occasionally something squeaks through somewhere. Although in my many decades as a musician I've never been a jazz player, that's pretty much 90% of my listening with a seemingly endless jazz trio obsession. Kjetil Mulelid anybody?

Can't think of one off hand, pretty difficult to find an artists devoid of at least one song I may like. I guess Captain Beefheart closest thing, the guy is a phony and treated his band mates terribly.

This thread progressed about as expected after reading the title. Looks like a lot of folks listen to audio show type music, which is a little sad.. Not all of any kind of music is "bad".
