Anyone bought a Gryphon Diablo 333?

it uses an ESOTERIC K-05XD SACD/CD Player & DAC, which in paper is far less superior to the Gryphon DAC 3, that the 333 uses internally.

@tinian Why do you think the K-05XD is ”far less superior to the Dac 3”? Based on your description it seems you like the sound of the 05XD?

I do like it very very much! I am impressed by it ! 

On paper the DAC and the design of the Gryphon is supposed to be better, better chip and design interface, although haven’t heard it. 

@tinian When I compared the 300 to the 333 at my dealer I think we were using a Soulnote SACD player (S-3). Not sure how good the internal Dac in the 333 is but I’m very happy with my K-05XD which I’m using with my D300.

I"m late to the party but reading some of the responses here on Diablo 300 vs 333, I’m glad it’s more different than better and most 300 owners are not upgrading to the 333. 

The 333 was better, but not much, more different than better for my tastes. And definitely not better enough at DOUBLE the price. High-end hifi right now is overvalued. Kinda like the S&P 500.

The Essence stack was clearly better, but again more different than better. The 300 is warmer than either the 333 or the Essence stack, which suits my system better.

So the 300 is warmer than the 333. If that’s the case, the 333 will suit my system better. Anyway I won’t make the change as the 300 still sounds lovely. I’m not sure about the future but the 300 will be staying for now.
