Caveat about the Cable Company return policy

I naively thought they had a liberal return policy and bought a few ethernet cables thinking I could return them if they didn't work out for me. Turns out in the fine print of the return policy you can only return interconnect and digital cables that are 1 meter and speaker cables that are 8 feet. Anything else is by their definition "non-standard" and therefore non returnable. That is despite the fact they have numerous lengths you can choose from their drop down menus and the company I bought from (Chord) lists the 5 meter cable I bought as a standard length,

here's the kicker.. you can only return speaker cables that are 8 feet but they sell them by the meter, so it is impossible to return an 8 foot speaker cable because they don't sell any. Lesson learned, read the fine print

Thanks, I guess I didn't recognize the abbreviation that was used.

I have bought many items from the Cable Company through the years and although they don't discount much it still seems to be a painless way to get some items. I think it is Steve that I have dealt with the most.

I've bought things from the Cable Company in the past also.A month ago I bought from them  a digital coax that so impressed me that I bought an interconnect of the same brand - Voodoo. So I inquired a few days ago about a loan of other Voodoo products or an equivalent brand they might recommend. The person that got back to me offered to send me a loom of Kimber or WireWorld and told me I should never buy silver cables again. Huh?I politely answered that I'm not interested in solid copper cabling at this time and wanted to further investigate silver cables. Crickets....

I think they have gone downhill indeed. If you go to their site and fill out their cable recommendation page, they never get back to you. I haven't bought from them in 10 years. Don't plan to either.

Terrible company, total waste of time. I think their marketing strategy is a scam. You're better off buying blindly off the internet than dealing with these time bandits. They are much better at serving inflated ego seems than helping return customers who they admittedly sold subpar cables. Shame on them!

My one and only experience is similar to what others posted above. A few years ago I was interested in a somewhat obscure brand, and The Cable Co claimed to have it in stock. After ordering I was told that they don't really have it in stock and would take weeks/months to actually get it to me. This felt deceptive so I called to cancel the order. Person I spoke with gave me the runaround and tried to upsell me on Synergistic instead. Eventually I got my refund and will never deal with them again.
