I purchased the SPL S1200 and am absolutely loving it! It replaced a Sugden FBA 800. I. used the amps to drive a pair of DeVore Super Nines. Better frequency extension in the highs and lows, more dynamic (micro and macro) and better imaging. Very engaging listening and it runs very cool. More weight and body to instruments as well. Also, extremely quiet and very well made!

The only nit I have to pick is that the on/off rocker switch in the rear of the amp is a bit too close to the IEC inlet and is partially obscured by my after market power cord. Other than that...I can't find anything to criticize. 

@grk - Replaced your Sugden, that's saying something and a bit cheaper too. What are you using for a pre-amp and DAC if you don't mind me asking?

My pre is a Luxman C-900u. I also have a Modwright Oppo 205 as my digital source. Yes, the SPL is cheaper than the Sugden, especially now that the "The Music Room" is running a special on the 1200.

(Terry London), I was wondering if you could provide some feedback. I have read many of your well written reviews of amplifiers from Coda, SPL, LTA, etc. I know that you initially liked the Coda 8 and then upgraded to the 16. But recently you seemed to have sold them and moved on to Coda 5.5. Your component list also mentions SPL 1200. I am intrigued by this amplifier, especially because it is “ Made in Germany”. I have high regards for German components and my recent acquisition of the T+A DAC 200 only cements my belief.

 A you please throw some light by comparing the Codas with the SPL. Also, do the fans inside the SPL turn ON once a while and do they bother you. I had read a long time ago, how the Coda brand had a falling with a US rag and were not reviewed much here in the States. But I understand that they have a large following in the Europe. Not sure how true this is anymore, since I am seeing a lot of press for. Idea these days.

I am looking to change my amplifiers from a Parasound A21 for my ProAc D48R loudspeakers.
