Yes magico does require more power generally. I would disagree about low level listening. I have a pair of s1mk2 and they sound pretty damn good at around 65db. They do sound even better at 75db though. Plus they are a much better build quality as well.

Focal, B&W, Magico all have different well documented “house sounds”.  I think which one chooses depends on personal preference.   Everyone will have a different opinion.  Only you will know what’s best for you.

At that price, consider the ATC SCM40 passive.

I would never recommend buying a speaker without listening to it first.
