[Just for fun] Favorite Thread Derailleurs

As a long-time lurker on many audio threads I have come to enjoy the sheer number of times threads get derailed by "helpful" folks who recommend solutions wildly out of the OP's request. For example:

OP: I am looking for a pair of small desktop speakers for $1,000 or less that will blend well with my Sprout amp. Space is at a premium as I live in a small apartment. Thanks.

Derailleur 1: Magnepan 1.7s should be on your list. While too large for a desk, and quite a bit more than 1,000, they will shock you with their soundstage! Of course they are also difficult to drive, so you will want to upgrade your Sprout to something that is 2 ohm stable -- you should be able to find something here on the 'gon for under $2,000 if you look around.

Derailleur 2: Why are you getting speakers? Clearly headphones would be a better choice. The Sennheiser 820s can be had for only $2,500 -- a slight stretch, perhaps, but well worth it.

Derailleur 3: OP, you did not specify what color your walls are painted, what the surface of your desk is made from, and what kind of computer mouse you are using--all of these will interact with your speakers and can cause major differences in sound. I highly recommend you get a Taj Mahal Electro-Piezo Mouse Pad Isolator, which retail for only $899 -- opened the midrange response to a shocking degree in my system and highly recommended!

My derailleur made of one thousand coat hangers precisely twisted with a graphite shield will work at a molecular level to derail anything absolutely faster and better.Because I said so.
Just think how much better it would be treated with PPT TC and an Omega Plus mat in close proximity (will leave the builder to work out the details of mounting).
You want a 'derailleur', huh?  How about a car door opened in your path in traffic?  That's always good for a few contusions...at least.  Not to mention getting to meet strangers that didn't want to meet you either.

Continuing up the vehicular continuum, the oil patch or leaves in the path of your motorcycle's front wheel.  No 'high side', but getting to do the 'third base steal' move with the bike still betwixt your legs....into the opposite lane.

That's real entertainment, folks.

Unhurt, no oncoming traffic to complicate the situation, just a bent bar and a snapped turn signal stalk.  And a skid mark on my waist belt....

Best automotive 'derail':

Hitchhiked a ride in V'dub van....Driver looks right and barks "HolyShi" (doesn't finish, van rolls counterclockwise 4X loudly, stops on shotgun side)  No seatbelt, both my feet on the seat, left hand on headliner, right hand on shattered side window....

All I had was a small cut in the palm of my right hand.

The nice officer took my account of the incursion; the other car ran the stop sign.  The back of the van looked like a pair of enormous pliers had scrunched it into a wedge shape.

And I walked away, still 30ish miles from home.

There....does that count as a derailleur? *L* ;)

Two very large cardboard boxes on doorstep.

That'll derail a happy T-giving every time.
