Richard Shahinian

Music lover and speaker innovator Richard Shahinian died on November 26.
Mr. Shahinian had one of the more memorable rooms at a New York City HiFi show circa 1987. He was featuring his Obelisk loudspeakers powered by Bedini. Wow!

Condolences.

I had the pleasure of knowing Richard for about 40 years.  our phone conversations were often measured in hours.  a great music lover, genius and speaker builder with out of the box ideas.

if you forgot your preconceptions and listened to the music  you were a fan. I let my ears do my listening and his speakers immersed you in the music. My condolences to Vasken and his family and for those who doubt the company's continuity. listen to some of the new speakers  coming from Vasken. and Shahinian Acoustics.  Unfortunately today people rarely listen to good music reproduction. by itself... it needs to be tied to a 60 inch screen or with compression algorythms .  RIP RS.

Hello there, this is Richard's daughter, Talin. I appreciated reading the good memories many of you folks have of him. I'm devastated by his loss, and miss him constantly. There will never be another like him, that's for sure. Thanks for the kind words and condolences.
The NY audio show I attended way back when started me on my quest for Shahinian speakers.  In sort order I got my Obelisks and more recently Diapason systems and Larcs.  I love them all and am deeply saddened by Mr. Shahinian's passing. My condolences to the family.
I am truely sorry to hear about Richards passing as this is the first I have heard. I met him at a audio shop near where I was working, the Audio Den I believe, on Long Island in the late 70's. He was, and I hate to use the word 'demo' a pair of Obelisk. I left there after hours with three loves, classical music, the  Obelisk and Richard. It took many years to finally get a pair and over the years I kept getting newer pairs and have had three or four pairs to my present and now own a pair of Hawks for main stereo, Obelisk for the second and have a pair of Arc's in my office at work.

I have been to the new shop and have spent time with Vaskin, who shares Richards enthusism with music. My sincere condolences to his entire family. The audio family has lost a true giant.
