The better (artist)....

Curt Cobain or Courtney Love?

IMO:, Courtney is the superior artist.

Of coarse Yoko did not have the forethought or insight of John's songs.

Comparing John to Curt is easy...JOHN!
Cher/Sonny aren’t in the same hemisphere as John/Yoko or Curt/Courtney.

Think about it... what did Sonny bring to the table? Nothing. Exactly! At that moment in time, males where the dominant draw. IE: Can you imagine a show entitled Cher & Sonny? Hell no!

BJ o Sambora...…….not in even in the same league, even, again, the  same hemisphere.

Bon Jovi? What?????

I would never have even thought of him/band in any serious discussion here. WOW!
The fact that someone/anyone would mention BJ/RS in the context of this thread,,,, seems to me that this person has quite a lot to learn about music!

Dave Edmunds or Nick Lowe (Rockpile)? Nick Lowe for songwriting, Dave Edmunds for everything else.

Jay Farrar or Jeff Tweedy (Uncle Tupelo)? Jay Farrar.

Phil or Don Everly (The Ever....oh, never mind ;-)? Don.

Peter Holsapple or Chris Stamey (The db’s)? Peter, who went on to be in the fantastic Continental Drifters (With Susan Cowsill and Vicki Peterson of The Bangles, and L.A./New Orleans studio drummer Carlo Nuccio, the best drummer you’ve never heard).

Dwight Twilley or Phil Seymour (The Dwight Twilley Band). Dwight, due to his songwriting.

The fact that someone/anyone would start a thread so  ridiculous, seems to me that this person has quite a lot to learn about music!
IMO:, Courtney is the superior artist.
Well yeah, the other one is dead, so...
Very strange subject for a thread, but she did write some good songs before she burned out. Amethyst comes to mind.
Ridiculous or not...

:-)
Elton John or Bernie Taupin?

Mick or Keef?

...and a bit more in earnest (I offer no opinion)...

June Carter or Johnny Cash?

Gillian Welch or Dave Rawlings?

Emmylou Harris or Gram Parsons?

Emmylou Harris or Rodney Crowell?

John Paul Jones or Jimmy Page

Michael Nesmith or the others

BTW - good pairings for discussion from @bdp24
