Speakers for a newbie

Hi all.

Can someone please give me some advice on speakers?
It's my first setup so I bought some old gear. I want to improve little by little.
In my first setup so I'm on a budget. Any ideas on a sub 500 Speaker set?

My amp is:
Mcintosh MC7100

Preamp:
Rotel RC870

CD Player:
Rotel RCD-965BX

Thanks a lot!!!

I'd chime in with a pair of Magnepan SMGa if you can find them. I picked up a pair recently for $350 and they are really wide open and have a really nice tight bass response.
Boston Acoustic it is...i just bought a pair...not theBA of old...smooth, rich, engaging, but not overly ripe/warm, they are a great find....
Where are you located? You list "P" as your country of residence. That could be a huge factor in getting worthwhile recommendations.
If you can live with some minor cosmetic damage and don't mind older, used speakers, there are many good deals on speakers right here on Audiogon. One example is a pair of Linn Keilidhs for $375 with missing grills. If they are in good working order (it says they are), that is a lot of speaker for the money. There are many others, as well.
"For less than 500, a must audition is BA A26 monitors"

I'm guessing that by "BA" you mean Boston Acoustics, Phasecorrect. As a newcomer, Funkpolvo may not be familiar with our shorthand.

Start with Vandersteen speakers. Whatever you can buy within your budget.
For less than 500, a must audition is BA A26 monitors...these have a seductive, romantic quality with amazing bass for their size...they reminded me of higher end European speaker such as Sonus Faber...great build quality as well
thanks a lot for your advice guys.

I want to listen to different kinds of music. From Pink Floyd and rock, Miles Davis, Beatles, to Mozart, Tchaikovsky, etc...

I love bass. I would like to really have some bass. But I also love clean and clear sound so I guess it would have to do more with budget.

My room is about 9 sq meters. Wooden floors and high ceiling, no padding on the walls.

Thanks a lot guys!!

Room size is important as well as your sonic preferences. What sound characteristics matter to you most?
If possible you might want to expound a little on what type of sound characteristics you are looking for or are important to you as they would lead to better recommendations. Also are you looking to buy new or used or either?

Anyway, the Dali Zensor 1 looks like a pretty nice speaker if you're looking new. I've heard the Silverline Minuet and think it's fantastic although just a bit above your price target unless you get a used pair -- but worth stretching a bit for imho. Other brands worth looking into are Epos, Wharfdale, KEF, and Dynaudio. In that price range I'd probably stick to monitors as most floorstanders will probably have some significant sonic compromises or flaws.

Hope this helps, and best of luck.
take a look at the Axiom audio M22 v3 very good a $498.A little on the bright side though
