+1 @curiousjim on the wireless for determining subs best placement. I initially put my two carbon specials in the standard beside the speaker position. But my basement suffered from booming corners all over the place and right behind my head as there is a wall behind me.

Switching them to wireless using the REL Wireless system, I was able to move them around until they really did disappear.  Now I have them far off to the side, you don’t even notice their position visually and they disappear sonically.

I also added some round base tube traps in a couple of weird corners, which helped also.
