ERA D-14 0r D-10

Has anybody here heard a pair of these speakers
offered for sale here on the Gon?
Opinions if so would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

I own a pair of D4's. I've listened to the D5 and D10. In my view, they try really hard to put out a hefty bottom end from a small box. They are also quite inefficient.

All use the same basic drivers. So the choice of one over the other depends on how much 'extra' bass extension you want. Just bear in mind that comes with issues of placement. In a live room, the speakers sounded very good. In a 'dead' room they were way too upper/mid bass heavy. The top end is quite laid back and not particularly detailed. I use mine as the rears for HT now. A perfect place for them.

At the 50-60% off asking price, not a bad deal. At full retail I don't think they are worth it.
I listened to both quite a lot. I wound up with the D14's over the D10's. to me and forgive me for my description, the 14 was fuller in the midrange and seemed to intergrate as a whole better. THe 10 just sounded a bit off to me. Crap answer, sorry. +1 on the inefficent but if you have the power they punch up and will rival speakers that are considered better by many. I had a chance to stand them up by units running $1200 more for a pair and I liked the era better. YMMV. I think the top end detail may have much to to with taste or electronics. I have d4's as rears and 14's as mains and they are nice and clear on top. for some of my music I have even rolled off the top a bit. Not really sure about my room as to it being dead or live.
I have extensive experience with both. My preference is the D-10. I felt it threw a bigger image and disappeared better.

The D-14 had a significant issue with the grill on. Somehow the design of the grill degrades the treble and collapses the image. This can be heard in a demo at the dealer. You need to personally check this out for yourself.

Both are built to a very high degree, and look superb. especially in their Rosewood. My choice is D-10's!
Thanks for the reply guys! I have no way to hear either, so will most likely not take a chance at this time.
I'll take a speaker on the dark side over one on the harsh/fatiguing side any day!

I love the d4 - have em in the bedroom. I doubt you'll be disappointed in any era at their price point - just give em some room to breathe
