Integrated amp for Dynaudio Special 40s
I'm using the Luxman 509x. Superb sound, image, bass, ease of use and features.I had a Sutherland phono preamp and sold it because the phono section in the Luxman sounded better.
Dynaudio Special 40 or OLD Dynaudio Focus 160?
I found the overall presentation was better on the dyn 40's, and of course that is my gear, my room and my music.I liked the Harbeth, but I am now very glad I did not get them. On the times I want to listen to classic rock a big chunk of it was mi...
Dynaudio Special 40 or OLD Dynaudio Focus 160?
Two very good choices. I listened to both extensively. My preference was for the Dynaudio. The bass response was superior. On large scale symphony and 60's classic rock the bass was missing on the Harbeth P3. Plus the amp worked a lot harder to get...
Dynaudio Special 40 vs Focal 1008 be vs Other
Greetings tmm808,I owned the Focal 807W. I now have the Special 40's. The Dynaudios throw a much bigger soundstage, have better bass too. I too looked at the same comparison for upgrade. The 807W's were a step down from the 1008's so no direct comp...
Integrated Amp ideas for Dynaudio Special 40's
Hi AZBRD,My source components,  OPPO-UDP205 (sacd), Pro-Ject RPM 9.2 w/ Ortofon Cadenza mc for vinyl. The WYRED 4 Sound was good, but the Luxman gave me better sound in all areas with the above source components.
Integrated Amp ideas for Dynaudio Special 40's
Hi Colinga,"Another question: is ~60 watts sufficient"?That will be very dependent on your room volume, listening distance, and how loud you play your music. In some case 60 might be just fine.I have found that these dynaudios thrive on power. My ...
Integrated Amp ideas for Dynaudio Special 40's
I use the Luxman 507uxII. A great combination. I has a Wyred for sound on them, and it was very dry and sterile sounding. The class D & G amps did not do it for me.
Why the facination with integrated amps?
I had McIntosh amp and preamp in a large living room. I had excellent sound. We sold the house and the McIntosh gear. I now have a dedicated 18 x 12 music room. I purchased a Luxman integrated. I was prepared to have downgraded sound because I wen...
Looking For Internet Radio Recommendations
I just purchased the Sangean HDT-1 stereo tuner. It was ridiculously cheap on ebay. I hooked it up to my 75ohm Fanfare outdoor antennae. All I can say is "HOLY SMOKES"! The fm is phenomenal. It does not have the glitz and glamour of my McIntosh MR...
Sony scd xa5400es or dvp ns9100es?
I have both too. I have a large selection of SACD's so the XA5400ES gets a lot of use. For pure stereo listening like the 5400 better. In my system I get more detail. The 9100 sits in my theater room and is fed into my receiver's DAC. Excellent un...
Best 5.1 McIntosh separates
I can't recommend a home theater with tube amps. Tubes take time to come up to operating condition. A theater needs instant on. You don't want to miss your sound if you dash for a show. Also five (5) tube amps will get toasty in most rooms. If you...
Mcintosh C 220 pre amp tube life....
I have owned the C220, C2200 and now the C2300. I have never needed to replace my 12AX7's. I use my preamp most of the day for my fm. I think the tube life also depends on how many on/off start up cycles they endure.Very satisfied with the tube li...
When less is more...10 reasons to own Thorens
I have a Shure M97Xe mounted. I have a new in the box Denon DL-103R that is not mounted yet. I always liked Denon pickups but I received guidance from Vinyl Nirvana that the Denon may not be a good choice on the TD-166MKII arm.I may need to figure...
When less is more...10 reasons to own Thorens
Bondmanp,I just returned to Thorens after a 20 year hiatus. What cartridges did you like in your TD-166mkII? I just purchased the same.I had a TD-160 in the 70's and loved it!There is something I can't describe with words that I love about those t...
Plinius Int 9200 or McIntosh 6600 for Dynaudio C1
Ldworet,I have the C2300 and MC402. I owned the Dynaudio Special 25's, and had the C1's for audition. Excellent, excellent sound. I also use that amp & pre combo with merlin TSM's with wonderful results.
