Aerial 8B vs Aerial 7B

I am trying to decide between these, I already have the aerial sw12 sub, my room is average size, using a sunfire theater grand signature amp, would the 8 be overkill on base, looking for opinions from Aerial owners

I'm not an Aerial owner, but my brother is, and I've listened to his system at length with Aerial 6s and 8s. The 8s are a fantastic speaker with loads of bass energy, but it takes a lot of amp to keep them happy. If you've already dropped the coin for the Aerial sub, the 8s are probably overkill in a typical room.
The 8s do not belong in a small room. You'll never find a decent setup for them; if you do, you'll go crazy in the proces. I'd bet you'd return them. However the 7Bs are perfect, especially with hi end amplification. Having the SW12 is just icing on the cake.
I auditioned both of these speakers in an A/B environment. The 8's sounded slow and the bass was slightly muddy. The 7 B's were tight and quick. Especially if you have the sub, absolutely no reason to buy the 8's. 10T's would be number 1 choice, then 7b's then 8's.

The 8's have a superior midrange over the 7B. As for the rest, I found the 7b on the lean side, particularly for HT. The 8's need 250W or more to be happy. You are a lucky dog to have the SW12 though, and either choice would work. Aerial is also introducing a stand mounted 3-way.
Emmett: I am really curious to know about the electronics that were used when you listned to the 7Bs. I've heard them sound different with varying electronics, with the highest quality yielding the best. Room acoustics are an issue as well. I recall listening to 6s once, and they sounded tinny. I had to tell the sales guy! Another came in, made some new connections... viola proper sound, but not my preference. I gotta tell you what one guy told me: If I was gonna put more money into my system get the 10T, as it was Aerials top of the line, price no object sorta speaker vs those below it designed to fit within price brackets. Know what I think he's right. The 10Ts sound great. Just too bulky for me.
