Are there headphones that image in front of you rather than in your head?
I agree, but also suspect that refections off the wall and ceiling or invaluable. I can conceive of signal changes to give the brain changes in the signal to give the impression of being there. This sounds like a complicated process and one that i...
Are there headphones that image in front of you rather than in your head?
Guys, I greatly appreciate your thoughts and taking time to state them.Much will depend on whether we sell our little New Mexico house where at best I have a 10 x 13 x 8 bedroom. I really cannot afford the same equipment in both of my rooms or hav...

Tonykay,I would agree that the detail, timbre of instruments, high end, etc. are exemplary with the top Stax head phones, But you never experience realism and think you are at the recording session. It strikes me that we should be able to duplicate...
Are there headphones that image in front of you rather than in your head?
Thanks, guys. I heard the Stax Pros long ago. I thought they were somewhat better, but still bothersome. I guess the brain would have to retrained to achieve what I want. Maybe those using earbuds daily teach their brain to move thing out front.
Loudspeakers have we really made that much progress since the 1930s?
I have owned 28 different speakers in 55 years as an audiophile with most, if not all available drivers and tiny to very large boxes. I ┬áhad concluded that one must expect that every speaker included compromises and that had two or three years bef...
What is more accurate: magnetic anti-skating, or barrel weight attached a fishline?
I use a blank record and set the antiskating to keep the arm inn the same position. I have tried placing it near the outer edge, the center, and close to the inner part and noticed no difference.I use an Ikeda 407 Long arm and their 9TT cartridge.
Looking for really fine cables at really low price
It is hard enough to find any agreement on cables much less on exceptional cables FOR THE MONEY.I certainly expect that my HFC Pros cannot be rivaled by any other cables regardless of price
What in the world is going on.....
I don't mean to be insulting in asking have you checked your cartridge alignment? I think even cuts on the same album by Simon sound different.
Why a digital media player instead of a dedicated computer?
hew, although I've been in computers since 1959, the new operating systems require too much use of symbols and placement that I find counterintuitive to want to bother, I have learned enough to have a music server running JRiver MC-21 with the onb...
High Fidelity Cables CT-1designed by Rick Schultz
I think there is use for loom and will continue to use it. I have always found that using the same manufacturer's signal and speaker wire. This is especially the case with the HFCables
High Fidelity Cables CT-1designed by Rick Schultz
calvinj. thanks for your interest. All that I really have to add at this point is that I think Rick is right about 200 hours of breakin. I have change nothing in the last month other than going to URH phono cables. But I am struck that the realism...
Magnetic isolation
I had these long ago from SONY. Remember that like pole isolation acts just like a spring. I like neither.
how do you handle your clean records?
I certainly am more careful with my records now than in the past. I have at one time or another cleaned all of my records which count over 1200. When I play them, I have a light over them where I can see dust and fine hairs. Before turning the tur...
Are audiophiles still out of their minds?
There is no use for this thread. Nobody, who considers themselves member of the scam police, will heed those who say some expensive cables are worth it. Nor will the scam police ever embrace at least some expensive cables. I have had expensive and...
The illusion of soundstage.
I am repeating what I've heard from Roger Paul as an explanation for the quite wide, deep, and high sound stage I hear with his X-10 MkIII amp used with his X-10 line stage.Apparently, every amplification stage passes some frequencies through fast...
