What blues are you listening to today?
+1 on early Steppenwolf
What blues are you listening to today?
BB King at Sing Sing    (on YouTube, David Hoffman)   Blues On The Bayou.   (on the Stereo)
Steppenwolf
Thank goodness. I was beginning to think you were all philistines and that I would have to look for brotherhood elsewhere.
Steppenwolf
It's Goldie McJohn on keyboards, especially the B3, that has me hooked. If you like the Hammond you should give this a listen. And to think he lived just up the road from me here in the PNW.
Vinyl foibles
The fact is you need two hands to handle vinyl. That's a foible too. Especially since I'm going to have shoulder surgery next month. I'll have to put it down for a while.
Vinyl foibles
Vinyl can also be dangerous. I recently placed a BRAND NEW album on the platter and gave it a small shove to start it spinning. The edge was so sharp it cut my finger. I left blood on the tracks. Too much...
Speaker for 300b amp?
I can breathe easy now that the heresy has been dismantled. First impressions can be misleading. Thanks for the all of the recommendations. I have enjoyed reading about them. Most intriguing at the moment are very high efficiency speakers ( >...
Speaker for 300b amp?
I'm taking the de Capos off the top of the JBLs until I find the other cables. What started out as astonishing just became annoying. Too much mid-range. It did get me thinking about the effect the baffle has on dispersion, however.
Speaker for 300b amp?
It's raining here in the PNW. A good morning for the Blues. Someone mentioned Reference 3A and I thought I'll pull mine out. I did a heretical thing and placed them on top of the JBL4367s, symmetrically. Unfortunately, the cables to the big spe...
Speaker for 300b amp?
Pindac, what floor standing coaxial speakers are you talking about? Antigrunge2, I'd like to be able to pressurize the open floor plan of the ground story of my house- stereoroom, dining room, and kitchen. Maybe 1400 square feet. Thanks for all ...
Speaker for 300b amp?
The Shinjitsu look a lot like the JBL 4367. Since they mention use with low power amps, however, they must have a more benign impedance curve. Sensitivity given is close 96 vs 94 for the JBL I have tried the JBL 4367 with low power, and it just d...
Looking to Develop A Short List of Amplifier Candidates For A Pair Of JBL 4367 Speakers
I have written a thread about my experience with the JBL 4367 and various amplifiers. It is titled: "How can I establish a reference level?" It is here on Agon in the Tech Forum.   They are amazing speakers!!! I am still in awe when I listen t...
You know you're an audiophile if--
You know you are an audiophile when you think the invert polarity button on the preamp is a perverse but necessary function.
How can I establish a reference level?
UPDATE: I’ve finally established a reference level for playback in my listening room. It took yet another new amp with an interesting property. A friend recently commented, "It sounds the same when you turn it down." Think about that. Opposed to ...
How can I establish a reference level?
I forgot to mention, Also noticeable with the change is the HUGE soundstage. With the right recordings I am immersed in a sound field that extendsr beyond the boundaries of the room. Be it Alan Lomax "Southern Journey" or Barbie "The Album" the e...
