Had Three Different Speaker Thoughts; Now A Fourth
Definitely go to Chicago.  Some of the best audio dealers in that city are in the suburbs, so you're not actually in Chicago proper.  I'm in Kansas City, and I've made several trips to Chicagoland to hear many great loudspeakers.
Had Three Different Speaker Thoughts; Now A Fourth
Looking at this from a different, more elementary angle, you should strongly consider the width of your room.  You say it's 12' wide, so unless you absolutely hug the walls with your loudspeakers, and the best people do not, the width of your spea...
Revel Performa F228 Be speaker... thoughts?
On my way travels to audition some of the brands you mentioned, I stopped one day at a random store and listened to the Revel F228 Be.  They were driven by a pair of PS Audio BHK monoblocks and pre.  Source was streaming, but I don't recall if it ...
Listening to digital and analog
@ghdprentice Your system lists your Aurender W20SE server/streamer, but doesn't mention your DAC.  Would you please share?
Holo Serene vs Denafrips Athena (anyone compared these preamps?)
I am also interested in the Holo Serene preamp, as I have the May KTE DAC.  Except the one YouTube video review by GoldenSound, there just isn't much info available online yet.
Streamer question
The A Cappella III by Musica Pristina exclusively uses Roon as it’s operating system, so you would not have to rely on maker to "keep up to date with the ever changing world of streaming". When looking for a dedicated streamer that outputs I2S for...
Looking for preamp which is good at BOTH single-ended AND balanced output
Why not take a look at the Benchmark Media LA4?  It's Stereophile class A, offers both balanced and single ended inputs and outputs, and is below your top budget, selling for $2,600 new direct from Benchmark.
Any good high end shops in Indianapolis?
If she goes to Chicago, she really should go see Mick and Patrick at Quintessence Audio in Morton Grove.  Great audio store and really great people.   (no affiliation)

Is anyone in the US making power cables like this custom PC cable ad on the Canadian Mart?
@mitch2 Thanks for your detailed and thoughtful reply.  Even with $10 per foot wire, by the time I bought the spades, contact enhancer, shrink wrap, and even a cheap crimper, I can't make power cords for what that ad is selling them for.  It's not...
Which Phono Preamp?
I cannot comment on those phono stages, but I'd love to hear your system, especially the Volti Rival.
Amp for Special 40's
@rafaelg - Forgot to mention that I bought the amp used here on Audiogon for $2,100, so it’s not that far out of budget.
Amp for Special 40's
I have a pair of Special 40 (6 ohm load) in my office powered by a Benchmark AHB2 (130 watts @ 6 ohms), with the LP4 pre and the Mytek Brooklyn Bridge upstream. I am very happy with this as a second system. I realize the AHB2 is a little above you...
Klipsch Cornwall IV
Forgot to mention that I’ve owned the Spatial Audio M3 Turbo as well. I much prefer the Cornwall IV.  I will say this, more than any other speaker I’ve owned or auditioned, with the exception of the Maggie 20.7, these Klipsch are just physically l...
Klipsch Cornwall IV
I’m really to green at this audio stuff to add much to this conversation, but on impulse, I bought the Cornwall IV. When they first arrived, I thought I had made a big mistake. About 100 hours in, they sound so much better. I’ve even had a few “wo...
