I'd love to go back to the early days of sound and sit in on the talks with western electric and the others who started this whole thing. Maybe Paul Klipsch when he was designing the K-horns would be fun too. or early Quad ESL
Pure Class A SS vs Tube Amp
I have 100db speakers as well also Klipsch new heritage line. I have tried a SET 300b based tube amp and that sounded wonderful (8wpc, by the way it was a Finale Audio 300b integrated). I have tried a class A SS from Luxman also very nice if not a...
Stereo Receivers from the past...
+1 for late 70's early 80's Sansui,  Luxman, Accuphase. for Japanese anyway. built like tanks very good parts and a very good rep. the Sansui AU series were stellar but prices are climbing fast in the used market. The higher end Luxmans are all go...
Sansui CA 2000 preamp
I picked it up and had it recapped, some small transistors replaced and diodes etc.  I'm shocked at how nice this preamp is. It's dead quiet (100db speakers so I'd know), full of life, musical as hell and a huge sound stage. very detailed top to w...
Sansui CA 2000 preamp

What is the appeal of the Denon 103 cartridges?
After buying and try one out I have to agree with chakster on this it’s ok for the money but imo not worth spending more money to make it better when you can spend the same total and get better yet still with another cart . It’s just a great entry...
New Klipsch Conwalls (IV)
kalaliI owned a set of SAM monitors as well for a while great speaker too for what they do. best sound staging I have ever heard in my system. I'm still thinking of the SAM high output's floor standers as a contender. just would like more bass but...
New Klipsch Conwalls (IV)
the deal I got on the Heresy 3's ( and I know there is a 4 soon to be out) was close to dealer cost so I'm not worried about getting my money out of them. I payed $1600 Canadian ($1200 US)for a new in the box speaker that lists here in Canada for ...
High Efficiency Loudspeakers
there are a couple really good interviews on YouTube with Voxative's  designer she explains how they are made and why she used wood.  short of it was the wood has lower mass then the paper ones and is  much stiffer. google Voxative on YouTube ( St...
New Klipsch Conwalls (IV)
I have been eyeing these as well. I have picked up a set of new heresy 3’s a couple weeks ago to get a feel for the new heritage lines sound. I also have a set of loaner Cornwall 2’s (1988 vintage) in my house to compare. I have to say the older C...
tube rolling with Schiit Freya +
OP,For 6SN7's I really like the NOS RCA red base some of the best tubes IMO of this type. they also rated to last 10,000 hours. I run them in my tube amp and am quite happy with the tubes. detailed with extended bass mids and highs. smooth and war...
In need of a new bluray player lost without oppo now what ?
I'd get one of the Sony high end Blue ray-multi disc players I got one last year and I'm quite pleased with it, there are a few models avail in your price range. The one i got doesn't have a DAC in it though but there is the next level one that do...
Free, Higher Resolution Streaming Radio?
NPR station out of Seattle ( Jazz, blues) has a web streamer that is quite good. KNKX FM is the stations name. Also almost all other radio stations have web streaming services. If you can get it in your area Canada's (national radio station) radio...
Oracle Origine MkII or Music Hall mmf-7.3?
Oracle Audio has been making turntables for decades the Delphi for example in all its updates is one of the long production running "greatest" tables of all time. I've seen the new oracle tables and they are very well built. I have not seen a MMF ...
Turntable recommendations
I agree with the idler drive TT set ups. I PM'd you about a potential Garrard 301 table.
