Is system synergy worth having matched components?
They sure look really great when they match. All McIntosh, all ARC, all BAT, all Schiit... looks great, and almost certainly compatible. And if that relieves the stress of wondering what if? then it’s a good choice. I was using an SP8 with a VT10...
Is it me? Will I ever be satisfied?
In the end, it depends on who you are.   https://www.psychologistworld.com/cognitive/maximizers-satisficers-decision-making And I certainly agree with the advice about treating the room before buying anything else. It's your biggest compone...
Your single most significant purchase mistake?
Martin-Logan Monolith IIIx. Ultimately, my bad. Magnificent speakers that could never integrate into my room. Broke my heart. Sent them to Japan to an eager buyer, who paid the shipping! I got off easy, money-wise.
Kef LS50s - great like me but need to come up for air
Consider a used pair of Revel M106. Musical but not "cool" like the LS50s. I've heard the M106 well presented at a dealer, and have a pair of LS50s in my second system.  The Revels have a wide open feeling, like the Heresy, but, to my ear, more pr...
Audiogon resolutions for 2022 - #1 less exaggeration when it comes to system changes
H: I did hear a difference and I will get back to you in a few weeks about whether it was an improvement or not.
Is advice from a constant upgrader to be avoided
I learned far too late in life that a few weeks spent repositioning our speakers is the most important upgrade you can make. And if you haven’t done that, a new DAC or TT or power cord is really just going to be the answer to an unasked question. ...

You can go home again
When I was a kid, I bought a mono Columbia of the Marlboro Festival under Casals, and first heard it on a Magnavox all in one record player with a built in amp and single cone mono speaker, and I remember being transported by the beauty of it. (I ...
Loudest Sound Ever?
dweller3, indeed! And going the other way, from Discovery.com"It may be possible to destroy everything with a loud enough sound. NASA estimates the mass energy of the universe at 4x1069 joules. But that number is considerably smaller than the energ...

More watts or better power ?
Audiophilia nervosa? We all have it. Powered subwoofers and external crossovers to reduce the bass load on the Amators might be worth trying. You have great stuff, by the way.Have fun!
System forclassical music
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I can't help myself...Marc-Antione Charpentier. Pronounced Shar-pon-tee-yay.Aside from me being a pedant, there were a lot good answers. They definitely should listen first and with in-walls... they can't. Enjoy:https://www.yo...
Different amplifier class for different music genres?
IMHO: At a price point, maybe. If you need a lot of power at a good price, Class D does that. Class A does not. I think matching the amp to the speakers matters more than what you listen to. I had a Class A ARC Classic 60 that was glorious but I m...
