The best speaker for a small room...at any price point.
I moved to a smaller room 10.5x14ft a couple of years back and worried that my Kharma 2.3ce would overdrive. Initially the fears were realised however much experimentation with placement well away from the front wall got the system to the point of...
Want to upgrade my cartridge from 2m blue to black
For those interested I can perhaps chip in with some recent experienceLast weekend I sat in on an Ortofon demo. 2M red, blue, black, Quintet black, Cadenza bronze & black. All were mounted in detachable headshells. The system, top end Project T...
Want to get into Analog
To the OP Not sure whether they were sold in the US but Yamaha’s YP-800 is a good bet for a modestly priced entry into Japanese DD tables. The included arm’s okay and I’d second the Goldring 1042. With a budget phono I was surprised how close that...
Review: Aesthetix Calypso Line Stage Tube preamp
ama7grA dealer kindly lent me a bunch of different pc's a few years back and none of them made any impression. So much so I can't even remember the brands. I settled first on Kimber then a UK brand called Missing Link because I had them. It's not ...
Cartridge for Technics SL-1200GAE
Having recently entered the world of TT with an SP10 mk2 in a heavy plinth I can share my experience with a couple of cartridges mentioned in the thread which I've had installed on a Jelco 750 12' System, Aesthetix Calypso, Cyrus phono signature, ...
High Fidelity CT-1 vs Teo Audio liquid cable
I have a budget I/C by a British company called the Crimson Music Link and my speaker cables are the Kaplans. I'd love to be able to replact the I/C with the Teo Mk 11 but a 3m run is beyond my budget. Any recommendation in the $2,000 range for a ...
Best Solid State Amp w/ Avalon Eidolon Diamonds
I'd second the Karan's. I've heard various Avalon driven by Karan's inc Isis with KAM1200 which was wonderful. That system got out of the way and left the music in a way I've not experienced very often. I've not heard Eidolon or the Diamond with K...
Musical Fidelity?
I had A5 pre and pwr a few years back and thought they were great for the money driving Sonus Faber. Dem'd them against the A5 int and much prefered the seperates. Haven't heard the later versions.
i am looking to replace my Krell with tube amps,
BAT may be worth exploring. I heard King V2 driven by VK-150 to good effect
Gryphon Diablo for Amati Anniversarios
I've no experience of the combination but as you've had no response figured I'd throw you my 2 cents fwiw.Clearly can't comment on the synergy between Gryphon and SF but I'd think the Diablo is in the right ballpark as intergrated amps go. A guy I...

Adg243, fwiw I think this level dCS and EMM play in the same ballpark. Personal preference in terms of what emphasis one prefers and system matching are what will determine a preference between the players (as with everything). For me I felt the d...
Big Step Up from Totem Hawks? 10k Speakers?
Not sure I agree entirely with Onhwy61.Sure, there'd be improvement with top of the line electronics but the Hawk's in that context would seriously limit the potential of the electronics (good though the speakers are).As a final system perhaps les...
Abbingdon Music Research gold fuses ???
I was pretty sceptical but a dealer gave me an AMR fuse which I tried in the power cord (fused in the UK) to my cdp. It seemed to make a difference so I changed the rest to no noticable effect. At least they are inexpensive to try.
Lumen White?
I heard Silver Flame's driven by Robert Koda electronics a couple of years ago. Fabulous, awesome clarity and soundstaging. Not sure I'd characterize the difference between between Kharma and LM in terms of sweetness, that system sounded plenty sw...

A couple of guys I know just spent an evening at dCS where amoungst other things they heard the Debussy and Puccini back to back in the same system. They were surprised when they all prefered the Puccini. Not that the Debussy was bad.I've had a De...
