Audiophile Classical cds?
You might want to check out the Diversity Records, Ltd. from Elusive Disc, 800-782-3472. In particular, the "Violoncello". Also, the Tchaikovsky "Seasons" has an insane violin player, very fast and gutsy. There was a review at Pos. Feedback a coup...
TRL Audio Mirror D1 Signature
Hi Clio, what have you compared it to so far?Deb
Absolute Best CD Players Out There Under $12k ?
No1willfan - there are many players that are not Meitner-sounding. Many of the ones that you mention are great, including the modded DV50 and Wadia 861. Funny how some set the Meitner as the height of their bar. A competent man, no matter how loud...
Post-Katrina salvage of audio gear and software
Sorry for your loss. I can't imagine the feelings going through your head about the past and the uncertain future.Doubtful that even the chassis of the electronics would be salvageable. Most of us probably don't carry enough insurance to cover all ...
Record-playing Rituals?
Thanks, Doug, I've been seeing good news about the RRL, I've got to place an order with Music Direct today so I'll have them send me the stuff. I've been complaining to my local store about the problem but he says any cleaner does the same thing. ...
Record-playing Rituals?
Anybody experience their cleaning fluid getting moldy? I have to clean out my VPI every so often, I don't want to put the mold onto records. I have the gallon jug on the floor beside the VPI.
Transistor Research Labs ST-225 Integrated amp
Tvad, actually the first really good preamp I had was a First Sound passive preamp that I picked up used. It didn't have any numbers to indicate what the volume was. Got along just fine with it. Never gave it any thought that it should have had nu...
Transistor Research Labs ST-225 Integrated amp
Thanks Ellery for the info on the pics.Tvad, yeah I had a passive pre at one time that had 23 steps and no indicators, you just count the number of steps. Sometimes there's the wierd record that doesn't have the vocal in the exact center, then you...

Jack, can you post a picture or two of the amp somewhere?
Harry Pearson's comments regarding .....
I also use the Shinola. It's safe and makes everything sound better. It's also essential for DVD-Videos, especially rental ones. Some won't read in my DV 50 without first cleaning with the RRL. There are some reviews and reviewers that I halfway t...
TRL Marantz Sa-14
I'm not so sure that TRL says that 500 hours is a magic number. IME, as one's music system gets better sounding, more changes are evident with break-in. If a system hasn't very much resolving power, one might not hear any change with break-in. So,...
TRL Marantz Sa-14
Hchi, bummer dude, I too have had shippers (Fedes) break stuff, deliver it falling out of its box. Took 2 months to get it settled. It makes you want to find the idiot that that abused your stuff and, and,...Jack, I really like my DV50, and the Ma...
TRL Marantz Sa-14
jes45, you've heard the TRL Esoteric DV50S at tube research and the SA14. Now tell me honestly, is it Esoteric or Marantz? Thanksdeb
TRL Marantz Sa-14
audioezra, I went to magico site, which model is yours, source of the drivers, none look familiar. I saw somewhere a review, is that the one?BTW, price? I expect a bit.Thx.Deb
What's the funniest song you ever heard?
Quite a few songs by the Fugs. Particularly on the "LIve at the Filmore" album. "Coca Cola" and "Mary Magdalene" come to mind. Did they also have an album titled "Golden Filth?" I haven't kept up with anyone who was into the Fugs, so don't really ...
