Off the Grid Listening-HELP!
Class D will be your friend. You're going to need to consult a professional power integrator, I would think.
Are there any audiophile Air BnB's?
Not that I’m aware of. I rent out vacation-type places (on the opposite side of the country from where you’re looking), and have thought about putting one (or more) of my older systems in a couple of them. You know, worth a couple of grand each, ...
TEKTON OWNERS
I own a pair of Enzo XL's. I upgraded the tweeter to a BE tweeters with as close to the original spec'd speaker as I could find. It was actually a "drop in" replacement. About $300 each, if memory serves. Despite the 2 ten inch woofers, I would ...
Wilson Benesch-Great or just Okay?
How and WHY would anyone post an opinion on something they have no experience with? I don't get it.
Wilson Benesch-Great or just Okay?
A buddy of mine had a pair of WB stand-mount speakers (Sorry, I don't remember the model....) They were reminiscent (at least to me) of Rogers LS3/5a with more bass authority. (Which makes sense). They definitely had the "British Bump" in their t...
RIP oregonpapa
Firing up one for Frank (@OregonPapa). 10 Years Gone.   Godspeed, sir.
Finally had my amp repaired ; I should have done it sooner; met a great tech........
Nice!  Definitely a good guy to have in your back pocket......
RIP oregonpapa
Very sorry to hear this. I'm pretty new here, but he always seemed to handle himself with class and tried to help people out with his experiences and knowledge. The audio community could certainly use more people like him.
Has anyone heard the new Eric Alexander signature speakers the matrix LS?
I like Tektons for what they are (have a pair, actually), but $18k does seem kind of expensive for a plain box. Eric really should work on the aesthetics if he's going to play in that market.   JM2W.
What's the most overrated or overpriced piece of equipment you own, have owned or come by?
I’ve had a couple of pieces by Schiit over the last couple of years: Thin, dry, clunky and sound cheap. Not super expensive, but more expensive that they’re worth. Fortunately, they were easy to sell. Magnepan: Inefficient, sorely lacking in the ...
Products you added to your system in 2021 that made most impact to your music enjoyment
1. Picked up a pair of Emerald Physics 2.8 Carbon OB speakers. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to go back to box speakers after these. (At least not in a price range I can afford.) 2. All my main components now run SR fuses. Eye-opening experience...
The New Synergistic Research Purple Fuses
"1. No idea. 2. To follow, what type of audio equipment do the purple owners have?  Tube/SS? Ultra high end or moderate specs/components? I'm open to any tweak, but I try to eliminate at least some of the variables to make my results maybe more ...
The New Synergistic Research Purple Fuses
@dabel , not sure if that’s allowed (after all, A’gon is trying to sell stuff). If you do a search inside A’gon, you will see ads for the Purple fuses for sale. A quick Google search will also reveal several retailers. Ted might even list some on...
The New Synergistic Research Purple Fuses
@jerrybj , I'm not surprised.  Selling like hotcakes for a reason, I guess..... I do need a .63 amp small slow-blow for the tube stage on my Denon, so if anyone upgrades and has an Orange laying around.....let me know.
How do you know when a stereo sounds good?
I know it sounds good when the music coming out of the speakers matches what I think it ought to sound like. When I play a recording I've heard a million times and hear something new I never noticed before.
