Speaker Spike Philosophy
bachemar,Imagine you are an audiophile. No, wait, too hard. Nevermind.@millercarbon I’m really curious as to why it would be so hard?  Is it the rational and common sense approach to understanding the impact of various footers on vibration suppres...
Speaker Spike Philosophy
Might be easier to imagine the effects of different options (springs, spikes, sorbothane etc) by comparing it to something we can all relate to - Mattress shopping.Imagine if you (speaker) were trying on different types of mattresses (footers) and...
Can Room Correction Be Added to an Existing DAC?
Kii speakers (and the subwoofer module) does something similar. Their speakers have woofers in the sides and back that fire a counter wave  time aligned to cancel wall reflections. Effectively eliminating the room wall.I have heard a demo, and the...
Can Room Correction Be Added to an Existing DAC?
The MiniDSP SHD Studio is a much more modern component, with much better quality internals than other MiniDSP products. I would say say hardware wise the Paradigm PW Link is in a similar class as the MiniDSP 2x4HD. The SHD Studio is in a different...
Streamer options
Both statements can be true at the same time. Nad might be better, in terms of components and layout etc. but that doesn’t mean it has to sound better. I have no experience with Nad, so my comment is not an opinion one way or another.
Need help on buying a streamer / network player
I would second the recommendation to look at Roon. Roon in extremely easy to setup (the networking bits “just work”) and It has the perfect architecture that you are looking for (Nas for storage, Central DB, control from phone, play through hardwa...
Quick roon question
If either of those two features (particularly the first one - a Linux control app) were present, I'd probably have stuck with RoonHave you looked at the WebControl extension. Appears to do exactly what you are looking for.
Want to get into Streaming
I’m not sure what the actual question is..
Roon endpoint or Dac with Room correction
I see didn't know you could do that with Dirac 1. So you can't load the filters to the 2x4HD it was a hack using a virtual sound card that wrapped the Dirac filters. That said, it still wouldn’t solve my problem of using a different endpoint/dac.M...
Giving up on Itunes! Alternatives? I want to run my hardrive with a dedicated tablet.
Dacs do not need to be hugely expensive. Audiosciencereview.com (ASR) has shown that there is almost no correlation between price and performance when it comes to Dacs. Use the component browser on that site and the reviews to find a dac with good...
Roon endpoint or Dac with Room correction
I was referring to running the Dirac filters on the desktop/within the Roon core before sending a signal to the endpoint. This would (I believe) allow me to use any regular Dac or endpoint and still have RC. I believe this was possible with Dirac ...
Roon endpoint or Dac with Room correction
If you're familiar with REW you can do the correction with that and upload the file into Roon. I am familiar with REW and tried it with the MiniDSP before upgrading to Dirac. With subwoofer integration, it just felt like too much of a struggle. Di...
Roon endpoint or Dac with Room correction
At least you don't always have to clear the queue first. One of my pet peeves with BluOS, and what drove me to look at Roon!
Help me build a $2,500 system
Buy used, to stretch your dollar. Buy 1 component at a time to allow for better quality components. Over time, you’ll end up with a killer system. As you buy each component you’ll have a better sense of what’s next and what you want, rather than ...
