CD/SACD player Under $4000

Looking for a new player. My Sony XA5400 won't play sacd's. Tried a new laser assembly but still won't play sacd's. Like to find something at least as good as the Sony. Does not need to be a network player. Open for suggestions!

I found a used OPPO BDP-83 that plays just about any disk format you can come up with. Digital out, into whatever DAC you have works well. It's rock solid and although Oppo is not being made any longer, their service department is still open for business. Inexpensive transport and spend the balance on your DAC.

From Oppo:

Disc Support:  Blu-ray Disc (BD-ROM, BD-R/RE), BD-Live with 1GB onboard
storage DVD-Video, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW
SACD (stereo and multichannel)
DVD-Audio
CD, HDCD, Kodak Picture CD
AVCHD, MKV, and other media files from disc or USB

@will3 Love the older Sony's, can't go wrong there if the price is right. Fixing those is becoming a problem is it not?

 The DENON DCD-3000NE sells for under $4000. Build, technology, and reproduction quality difficult to beat, even at several times the price. Very nice-looking component in the silver panel version.

scotandholly;

From what I’ve seen, Sonys SACD players are pretty durable. On some of the older ones, there is a self alignment procedure that can help fix laser problems. I used it myself on a couple of SCD-CE595’s and it works well.

Listening to Joe Sample’s "Roles" on my XA-5400ES as I type this and am satisfied with it’s CD playback as well!
