The Cable Company’s “Why Trust Matters” — Why so Cloak & Dagger?

Perhaps others noticed in their respective inboxes today an email from The Cable Company with a note by its President ?

Here is the beginning: 

Why Trust Matters

​An industry buddy called me out of the blue earlier this week to share some bad news.

He'd just lost a product line that he and his company had worked tirelessly to promote in the US. They'd made huge headway with the brand over the last many years, despite the recent economic headwinds of tariff uncertainty and hugely increased shipping costs.

Nevertheless, from one day to the next, the manufacturer decided to sever the relationship and move to a different distributor. The grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence. Sadly this kind of thing happens far more frequently than you might think.

 

The post goes on but never names the distributor nor the manufacturer.  It does end, ominously, 

My friend and his company will survive this loss and thrive. Because he has my trust, as well as that of a large number of people in the industry. The manufacturer on the other hand?​

What is the point of a note like this if the key parties are not named?  Is it just click-bait?  And if so, to what end?

Since it makes a point of saying "promote in the US" and mentions shipping costs, perhaps this refers to a foreign made cable line?

For sure non-US. not clear it’s a cable line, though.

Right.  And from his piece, it is not even clear if the line in question is something that the Cable Company sells.
