Foreign Tongues - New Rolling Stone Album (vinyl)

Released today!

Amazing.  On par with Hackney Diamonds.

Really Good!

@klimt , It’s short for Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs. They produce a higher quality vinyl pressing. They command a higher price and the handful I have sound very nice. Im glad you like the newer Stones music, it’s not for me. The last couple Stones albums I spun were Sticky Fingers and Some Girls. I prefer their early stuff that tends to be pretty dark. I was fortunate enough to have front row seats on one of the cat walks for the Tattoo You tour at Candlestick Park but that was the previous century. My buddy’s friend worked for Bill Graham and we paid an outrageous price of $30 for the Special Access passes that were stickers we put on our chest. Damn I’m old ! 😆 Cheers , Mike B.

For a band that can afford the worlds best studio, engineers the Stones usually fall short. They got it right on 1983 Undercover. Good quality. Soundstage goes way beyond speakers on Undercover. If I recall Black and Blue sounds pretty good too. Sadly most of their 60s, 70s lps that I have lack dynamics.

Haven’t heard the latest but agree on over compression on Hackney making it almost unlistenable, I would much rather listen to the Jimmy Miller produced albums when they were the greatest rock and roll band.

A truly top notch recording has eluded them.  That would be a worthwhile endeavor at this stage IMHO.   Take their best material and give it top notch treatment, not just a remastering, which may or may not even help. Build on what you’ve done and go out with a real bang!  Use as many guest artists as needed in the process.

I haven't heard this album yet but I received the Blu-ray boxed set today.

I had the same feelings about Hackney Diamonds until I ripped the Blu-ray. Regarding the SQ of their other albums,  I would say that they have all been released in SACD and/or Blu-ray. The last redbook release I listened to was the remastered box set of Tattoo You, so I've basically lost touch with Stones redbook material and quit vinyl over forty years ago.

I would appreciate if someone could help explain exactly what they find lacking in the production of the Stones' recordings. Personally I find them more than acceptable. I forgot about a month or so ago I acquired a Japanese remastered version of an album that was never released. "Could You Walk On The Water" remastered in mono, I found it excellent. It's a 44.1k recording which morphed into "Big Hits High Tides and Green Grass".
