l just did read back my post… Just to make sure!

l gathered that opinion from your attitude towards your guest, which was a choice, not to educate him. You did not invite a healthy conversation, embarrassed your cousin by your dismissive behaviour, and by evasion (and silence) did not demonstrate how your system works.

Do you not think that he would have appreciated a more open discussion?

You did say he entered the whole conversation in a “congenial way”, the way you chose to finish it was not.

This is my cousin of 70 years.  He knows very well of my obsession with audio going back 60 years!  He has heard my system in virtually all of its iterations just not  the latest version.

I simply was pulling his chain because he is not into music at all!  And thinks anything more than a car radio is sort of whacked out.  Not one bit of audio in his house...none...nada...zip!

I don’t know if any study has been made into music lovers.

I would hazard a guess that more people don’t care, have no interest in music, than those who do. 
 

It is entirely possible that it is us on here that are the odd ones out, who spend insane amounts (in some cases obscene offensive amounts) who are the oddballs.

I've seen this before, where people are actually offended by how others spend their money. It must really annoy them to see what some people spend on their trucks and SUVs, and what some spend on a big fancy house. 

Yes l have to admit, l am a self assessed fringe obscene purchaser. I spend far too much money on music and gear, always have. Even an oddball myself within a small percentage of the population with such a hobby, but l leave those reading these comments to self assess themselves.

With regards to cars and trucks, l have never given it a thought. As long as they start maybe!
