Help! Treble Trouble!

Don't pronounce yourself defeated so easily. Maybe God is sending you a message to get a spare DAC. Even if your Mytek is still healthy, it's an older DAC. Why not try something newer and see what modern DACs have to offer in terms of sound characteristics—and, of course, it also gives you another unit for troubleshooting and diagnosis if needed.

For just $199, you could try the FiiO BR15 R2R DAC at home. It has the classic R2R sound signature and would give you a chance to hear how a modern R2R DAC compares with your older ESS delta-sigma Mytek. You might find its presentation more natural and lifelike, with a more convincing sense of space and a more immersive soundstage.  Don't give up so easily. Good luck!

Yes, I've been kicking around that very idea for a while. My Mytek is long in the tooth and super analytical.

I appreciate the vote of confidence, but I've exhausted every avenue of troubleshooting I can think of. I have swapped, removed, replaced, toed in, toed out, pink noised, tone swept...

All in all, the system does sound dandy. Lots of air, detail, quite enjoyable. 

If I focus on what's there instead of the tiny percentage that's missing, indeed, quite enjoyable.

You lost me.  You said "Just did a tone sweep from listening position.. Mids handed the tone over to the tweeter and heard them all the way up to where I couldn't anymore, which apparently I'm down to 14k.😕"

You say you heard them all the way up to 14K.  If you are hearing your system make test tones up to 14k, it would seem your system is making treble.  What am I missing?  Are all your components in the chain?
