STRANGE- TWIGHLT ZONE PHENOMENON. Can anyone explain?

I have an Entreq Silver Tellus Grounding box. At the present, there is only one Entreq Atlantis cable spade lead attached to it and on the other end of that cable is an RCA with a wooden outer exterior. This RCA is connected to one of the unused RCA’s on the right side of my Lumin Streamer. And it only connects to the outer RCA ring.

There are no AC connections of any kind.

So here is the mystery, when there is a storm coming, there is a static hiss coming from the right speaker. Sometimes I think I can also hear some sort of a radio station. If I disconnect the Entreq RCA cable it goes right away. If I connect the same RCA to the unused left channel the same thing occurs on the left speaker.

It definitely seems like a grounding issue, but honestly, I am stumped. I have moved and relocated any and all cables away from the Grounding box and its cable.

Again, this only occurs when there is some sort of storm.

I have dedicated circuits for my audio.

I have also tried a different grounding cable. What the heck is causing this?

No problem, thanks. I made the title especially to accent the weirdness of this problem.

I just rerouted a fiber cable that runs to the Lumin X2 to keep it away from the Entreq Atlantis grounding cable. I don’t really think that was the problem, but at this point I am really puzzled.

zlone,

I just heard the hiss and disconnected the Entreq Atlantis cable at the Entreq grounding box, but still leaving the cable connected to the Lumin. The hiss went away immeditaly.

So, what does that mean? Is it the cable or the Entreq grounding box? Which by the way has nothing else connected to it.

@ozzy

I have never understood how a grounding box actually works,  So I’ve banged a four foot copper rod into the ground and ran at least a twelve gauge wire to the outlets my rig is plugged into,

But now,

Knowing how much time, energy and money I have in my system, I unplug my system when my phone alerts me of lightning within ten miles of the house. I lost a receiver forty years ago and it ain’t going to happen again. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Storms create ionized energy as that is what lightning is. Dad was a nuclear physicists  and also taught astronomy.  Yes cables can act as antennas and shielding helps,out comes the aluminum  foil. Call the manufacture. Nothing electrical should be plugged in during a storm. Some articles state braided copper ,aluminum foil ptfe and air best insulators. Enjoy the science.

You may also creating ground loops if not all plugged into same outlet circuit.
