Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

Hi all, I recently scored a pair of the CS 2 2 (no decimal point, just 2 (space) 2. I'm just wondering where they rank among the other numerous models. I'm very happy with them. Driving them with my Anthem MCA 225 amp. Thanks. And Happy 250th Birthday, America!

Welcome! good to see you here today. Nice score on those CS 2 2 loudspeakers.

The Anthem MCA 225 is a sonic match for Thiel. What other gear and cabling rounds out your System? I look forward in reading more about Musical tastes as well.

Happy Listening!

Jafant, nothing fancy about the rest of my 2 channel set up. It's in my unattached 3 car garage/mancave. I have 2 setups in there. I'm running the Thiel 2 2's with the earlier mentioned Anthem MCA 225 using Blue Jeans 12 gage wire with locking banana clips. My only sound source is a single tray Marantz cd player from the mid 90's. I have a SMSL volume control/DAC and an Adcom GTP-500 preamp.  The 2nd setup in there is a rack with Yamaha A-S801 integrated amp with a Sony cd player and Amazon purchased cables with regular banana plugs. I have 2 pairs of unique speakers on this setup. One is a Salvation Army find from about 7 years ago. Amrita Audio Reference Standard floor standers. These things are my pride and joy. The gloss black cabinets are 14" wide, 16" deep and 49" tall. Rear ported. It houses a single 13.5" cast frame woofer, dual DynAudio 6.5" mids and a Vifa metal dome tweeter. The top half of the baffle is covered in black felt where the mids and tweeter are. The DynAudio voice coils are 3"! Abnormally large for a 6.5 inch speaker. The second pair of speakers I made. I repurposed the cabinets from an old pair of Realistic 10 inch 3 way speakers. I cut off the entire front baffle and lined all the interior walls with additional 5/8 MDF. So now the side walls, top, bottom and back are 1.2 inches thick. I bought a (now) discontinued Dayton Audio 10" aluminum woofer from Parts Express. Also got a Fountek FW146 5.25" aluminum midrange and a Dynavox soft dome tweeter. They also discontinued the Fountek mid, so if I ever need to replace a woofer or mid, I'm screwed. What's unique about my homemade speakers is that the woofer is sealed in most of the cabinet's airspace but the mid and tweeter are open baffle on a piece of white 5/8" Corian that my friend machined for me. Fun hobby. That's why we're all here. Happy 4th all.
