Are you a keeper or a flipper?

Do you keep you audio gear for a long time or do you tend to change gear frequently?
I would say I’m a keeper. I’ve owned my Linn turntable 28 years; I’ve owned my Revel speakers and Pass amp/preamp/phono 11 years. I’ve also had my cd player and tuner over 10 years.
Ironically, my newest piece, bought in 2025, is the oldest hifi gear I own- a Thorens TD124; I bought that from the daughter of a friend who passed away. My friend was the original owner. I view my purchase of the Thorens as a special circumstance. The friend that passed had a lot of hifi gear - all of it interesting, but the only piece that drew me in was the Thorens. I knew he used to have a Marantz pre and power amp- tubed- but those were sold years back.

I was a flipper for the longest time but now that I have my electricity and cabling down, most things sound great to me and I don’t need ridiculous electronics to make me happy anymore

I'm a keeper and an occasional flipper. There were some pieces I bought to try them in my system, and if I didn't like them I sold them, some I bought at a great price to make a little profit to allow for my next upgrade, and there are the pieces I bought and would never sell. Funny thing is, the oldest piece I personally bought and still have and use daily (for my computer speaker) is a mid fi pioneer receiver from 1996. Nothing special, not a high end model, but still works like a horse.

Keeper who sells when replacing component within the system. Will keep an amp and 2nd turntable for backup or sound change. Will sell gear being replace that turns over quickly and try to recoup some money for the "coffer". Not much  into 2nd and 3rd systems due to space and usage concerns.
