AGD Duet Monoblocks

Considering replacing my Gryphon Diablo 120 integrated with AGD Duet monoblocks, using my Linn Selekt DSM (with Organik DAC and Utopik power supply upgrade) as a preamp direct to the monoblocks, paired with Vivid Audio Giya G1 Series One speakers. Objectives are clarity, microdetail, and imaging. Would be interested in comments from any AGD owners, especially AGD Duets owners. Thanks!

@glenmschneider Yes, that was my wife, by far the most enthusiastic AGD supporter :)  I doubt she had any clue (nor do I, actually) about the Triode Lab FFx Parallel 45. Her answer was not in disrespect of your amps at all, simply a lovely statement for our "babies". Hope you can forgive her. Then again, AGD strictly adheres to a very simple rule: because of our company's ethical professional standards, we do not comment on competitors’ products or designs.

What I would like to add, though, assuming it can be of belated amendment, is that AGD has scores of customers who switched from their SET 300B and other triode SET products to the AGD Audions for driving their high-efficiency speakers (e.g., Avantgard, Acappella, etc.), ranging from 98 to 107dB. Based on their feedback, they are indeed quite satisfied.

@hilde45,  I’m currently trying out some Fosi V3 mono blocks and am quite surprised at what they’re doing in my system.“

same here. I “borrowed” a pair from Amazon while my PSAudio amp was in for repair. They drove my Maggies like little champs and the surprise was that I couldn’t find anything to dislike (sonically).

@campoly  Interesting.

I think change is coming and the days of $8k Class D amps may be numbered.

Here is a nice piece on this genre of amp (not the one I have now):

"I hooked up a pair of Fosi ZA3 in mono mode to my Spatial X-2 loudspeakers, which usually get far pricier amplification. The ZA3s had no problems driving the X-2s to satisfying levels, even on punishing music. Soundstaging and spatial effects were all preserved on my own live concert recordings. Colour me most impressed with the ZA3’s sonic prowess.

If you are enamoured with the warmth imbued by tube power amplifiers, you may feel the ZA3’s sound is too clean and lacking in the kind of lower midrange and midbass lushness you crave. But if you need a relatively neutral medium-output power amplifier, the ZA3 will be up to the task."

@hilde45, I agree. My experience with the Fosi amps has certainly made me rethink where and how my money might be best spent, at least regarding amplifiers.

Over the past several years, I’ve  concentrated on improving my room acoustics and it is by far the best money I’ve ever spent on improving my listening experience.
