Changing audio beliefs
I used to believe it was all about the equipment until I heard what room treatments are capable of. It made me realize that it is mostly about how the speakers interact with the big box (room) that they are plopped down in.
AGD Duet Monoblocks
@bartsw, If “audiophile class” = expensive, then sure, it certainly doesn’t belong. “it struggles above 5kHz“, I’m not sure what this means but I didn’t hear them struggling to do anything. My ribbons still sounded amazing. “at 4ohm it loses ove...
AGD Duet Monoblocks
@hilde45, I agree. My experience with the Fosi amps has certainly made me rethink where and how my money might be best spent, at least regarding amplifiers.  Over the past several years, I’ve  concentrated on improving my room acoustics and it is...
AGD Duet Monoblocks
@hilde45,  I’m currently trying out some Fosi V3 mono blocks and am quite surprised at what they’re doing in my system.“ same here. I “borrowed” a pair from Amazon while my PSAudio amp was in for repair. They drove my Maggies like little champs a...
Speaker cable termination options
@kmm84, what is the “Blue Jean crowd”? And why avoid it?
Happy Global Beatles Day!
I was a dumbass 10 yr old in rural s.e. Louisiana when the Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan show. It was a major turning point in my life. The Beatles opened my eyes and showed me that there was a whole wonderful world out there outside of my r...
“Civilian” reaction to your gear?
My system is in my den which is tucked away in the back of the house sort of hidden away. Out of sight-out of mind. I like it that way. I don’t invite people in unless they show some genuine curiosity which has only happened on a few rare occasion...
Frank009 is stalking my profile page.
Why not simply ban it. It’s obviously here only to antagonize, disrupt, and mislead. It is a forum menace.
Visited a Store and was shunned
When I moved here (DFW) in the late 80s, there were at least 6 B&M stores and all were eager to give anyone a demo and customer service was good. It was actually fun to shop audio gear back then. Today there’s only 1 left that I know of. Not f...
Shaggy rug Pet-friendly alternative to a shaggy rug for room acoustics?
@audphile1  +1 I would lay down some absorbent pads and train him secret is to walk the dog multiple times per day and not wait until he accumulates enough to wet the pads or the floor. This means walking him 5-7 times per day. This is how...
Yamaha A-S1200 + KEF R3 Meta + KEF KC62 — Good Match?
A Fosi V3 would suffice and save you a lot of money, though lacking the bragging rights of the A - S1200. @jasonbourne71, I had to send one of my PS Audio amps in for repair. I didn’t have another amp to use in the interim so I bought a pair of...
Enter the modern hifi world. Try this test.
@goodlistening64, ah, yes. “ what the flip flopin goobinschlobin is going on here”
Enter the modern hifi world. Try this test.
It became a cesspool of garbage....   ummmm, have you stepped back and taken a good look at this thread.   I’m still curious about the Bentley and the wealth and I’m sure we are all on the edge of our seats waiting for you to post photos of yo...
Trying Qobuz Connect For the First Time
@tuberist  I migrated away from Roon because of the frequent and sometimes problematic updates. Same here, plus the messy support system which essentially has you doing the leg work for them when there is a problem (often of their own making b...
2026 best deal in audiophile class D stereo amp?
@lardawg +1 The M700s make my Maggies sing. I’m delighted with the super quiet black background and tons of details. I can no longer chuck around 50# amps. The M700s are manageable weight wise and seem to be very well built. Around $2k used at Th...
