Never again. I ripped all my cds and sacds in stereo and multichannel (thanks to the old OPPO players - RIP ) to an Ubuntu server and Roon and HQPlayer do the job.
Is anyone still using a CD Player
I have a bunch of CDs and the Krell 505 player. I find myself defaulting to my Aurender Streamer and never listening to CDs. I’m considering getting a CD Ripper and loading them via HSD or SSD card and loading into the Aurender. Thoughts? Am I in the dark ages even keeping the CD Player?

ZERO INTEREST in streaming. Always had decent, if not very good CD players. The system I use the most features a PS Audio SACD Transport and PSA DAC. The other system features a Musical Fidelity CD PRE 24 cd player. I like having CDs. Must have at least 5000 CDs, if not 10,000. I genuinely like how they sound. I love going through my collection and picking out a few to listen to that day. No desire to scroll through some service’s streaming library or copying discs to a machine. I don’t even use headphones to listen to music in the gym. Christ, I do have only so many years left, not spending them that way. So, what does interfere with my CD listening, besides infusions and all those medical niceties? Podcasts and the rabbit hole known as YouTube. My dad was a TV, Radio, and Appliance repairman extraordinaire. I got from him the love of radio listening. Add to that an addiction to pro-wrestling and best dim sum restaurants in NYC and other various topics and that is the competition to my music listening time. @ ktgsjs - you ain’t no Luddite with CDs

@ktgsjs what Aurender streamer are you using and what DAC? And what differences do YOU hear between CD player and streaming. How about your SACDs? Any different from streaming? |
