Wilsons new flagship

Maybe I am getting old but Wilsons new flagship $780k  and they feel it is justified,

lit gets better if you want custom paint $110,000 they said it takes 2 days to paint both speakers, Jays audio lab commented and I think it was way too much and

$110k for $300 in paint is nuts that is truly taking advantage of everyone with wealth, imo only an idiot would pay that. I guess nothing should surprise me any more !!

A smart person can hit the peak of audio nirvana at well under 100k. A doofus wouldn’t hit it at 2 million or 10 million.

Speaking of which...how many of you all are Willie dealers on this thread yet? Wouldn't hurt for the dealer list to come clean out of their hidey accounts once a while.

Nevertheless.... must be real nice eh? ...Making close to 400k (the dealers cut) for sending a thank you note and shipping a box...mmhm

A $2 million audio system can be enjoyed anytime -most audiophiles frequently enjoy their systems. Weather does not effect your experience in almost all cases. It costs almost nothing to operate and maintain. Apart from worsening your tinnitus, there is no risk to enjoying your audio system.

Plus, it is both highly illegal and extremely ill advised to operate that car or boat under the influence. We can enjoy our systems as wasted as we wish! :)

**Note: this comparison scales up from around $200,000 to past $2 million

For $780,000, I would not want that speaker or any one pair of speakers.

I’d prefer 10-15 pairs of the world’s great speakers.  Big ass Avantegarde horns; the quadruple panel Maggie’s; some funky ‘stats and ribbons; exotic single drivers; granite Acora’s; a nice pair Wolf Von Langa’s; a bunch of the worlds great drivers in a box speakers and a terrific $80,000 pair of Wilson’s!

That’s what I would do with $780,000 that has to be spent on speakers.  🙂

I’m sure it sounds great but I think it’s ugly.  For me a speaker has to look as good as it sounds.  I’m sure some with the money to buy will like the looks but I’ll pass.

Wilson builds what Wilson builds and they have decades of experience knowing what their dealers and customers want.  I imagine this loudspeaker will be a success for them.

People are quick to complain about forum posters who interject politics into what they consider purely audio directed threads.  This thread is inherently political.  Opinions about cost, both extravagant and budget, are at their core discussions about political economics.
